opinions on the champs?

I thought they looked amazing at champs but I feel like most of their success at the end of the year was very momentum based.

they are all really good players, but they aren't the kind of huge micro management team as others are. the strats sometimes seem questionable, and even sometimes looks like they are just playing ZMJJKK 1v5 strats. I still think they deserved champs win obviously, but I feel like most of the success at the end of the year wasnt more of the team change but the momentum they had during playoffs :D

it was more of a team change than momentum imo, they actually looked like a component team and nobody did good igling, obviously on top of that edgs players are very mechanically gifted. they weren’t scared of shying away from double duelist and was able to adapt to slow play a lot earlier than i thought. if you watched them before then you would know that they liked to run double duelist a lot, much like PRX. the upset emea fans will say otherwise

tldr: they played like how any other team would and followed the meta and ended up being better than every other team. its just how things are

I hate to say this as a cn fan but EDG did play shit today. No excuses, they played bad, they didnt deserve the win, its not bc of the off season. EDG is hiding strats but they shouldnt play like this

But the fact is EDG didnt fluke their way through champs like alot of ppl talked abt

debatable since they are playing infront of chinese crowds + it is kangkangs hometown

But yes i can see why u said that after EDGs 2023 off season

on another note. i just feel like if prx won champs with messy gameplay instead of edg, nobody would care as much

ik it seems mega fucking cope to say they "aren't trying" rn but they've said themselves that they wanted a break and weren't going to practice all that much for these tournaments. their champs run wasn't a 'flash of the pan' life performance. they changed very little structurally and simply went back to what always worked for them. S1mon was as much of a contributor as the coaching staff were in that it helped make EDG a well oiled machine. nothing more nothing less

maturing is realizing edg was never a great team
they just capitalized off of a braindead meta

From my understanding, this isnt champs 2024 edg play. Either they're so lost and made a lot of mistakes, or they weren't expecting DFM to be so aggressive (many rounds EDG just play contact with no util, and they surprised by how much DFM had taken spaces, so EDG lost). Props to DFM, they're the underdogs but that might be the reason they took the initiative to play aggressive because they got nothing to lose anyway.

Everyone needs to stop overreacting and focusing on negatives. Shits exhausting.

Talk about how dfm beat the champs. How did they do it?
