When or how much you eat is less important than what you eat, find low calorie filling snacks to hold you over and eat healthy meals, if you need to lose weight as opposed to just turning it into muscle maintain a calorie deficit however best suits you. Some people eat smaller portions, some people eat less meals, etc. Pair that with excersise and a non sedentary lifestyle and your chilling
This is just how I have typically eaten my whole life, up until a year ago
just alternate day fast - eat whatever you want 1 day (within reason) with moderate to high exercise. Then only water/0 cal drinks the next day with light exercise. and repeat. I did this semi-consistently (didn't exercise on weekends) for a month and lost 22lbs o7
allocate 30 minutes to an hour of just walking/jogging/running, brush your teeth after you eat breakfast & dinner to better avoid cravings, and if you have trouble controlling yourself with eating certain foods simply don't buy them
