If they stuck to major regions like then yes, but riot tried to market this game to the world along with its val esports , this is unsustainable, so riot will have to make unpopular decisions like merging sea or handing streaming rights to SOOP

It is becoming global, but at the cost of sustainability. You can merge SEA region for their proximity, but how do you hedge losses from south asia or oce? The reason regions are merging in apac and emea is probably because riot can't sustain this type of environment at all.

Also riot probably never does marketing or sucks at attracting investors.

But I think they have done a lot of things correctly as well. The game changers league for example is genuinely an event that people watch and enjoy.

I will not comment about the level of play but probs Valorant game changes has to be the most watched non-male exclusive event watched among any esports by a margin.

I cannot name 3 female players from CSGO, LoL or any other esport. But Valorant Game Changers is watched by millions.

I enjoy vcj gc too ( onni is the future btw) , but only a small minority watches gc (except for jp) , max gc viewership is champions gc and it's not even 1/5 of champions😔
