My cousin is building a computer, and asked me to help him choose the parts, but I'm kinda out of touch with the war between AMD x Intel since I built my PC 2 years ago .
He wanted to buy a 4060 or maybe 4060ti , but he has enough budget for a 4070 , so i said it would be a better choice if he is aiming for longevity and performance (he said he wont change anything for the next 7-8 years).
I dont know wich processor + motherboard combination would be the best choice tho , With all this Zen4 and ddr5 thing, and also the intel 13th gen , im kinda lost . I was thinking about the i5 13600k , since it has a good performance for a "cheap" price , what do u guys recommend ? What about AMD ? (dont wanna a high end motherboard tho , way too expensive here)
The budget for the processor would be around 360 dol (not considering taxes)

also if he wants longevity definitely go for amd cuz amd doesnt change sockets every other generation like 0nt0l

Whatever gets you above 300 fps consistently should do the trick, make sure to tinker with settings to get you over the edge, and minimize your spec costs.

Make sure it's all properly cooled as an overheating CPU will drop performance by like 400%

if you go i5, might as well go the kf version (saves ~$40)

CPU: i5 13600KF
CPU Cooler: depends on preference but arctic makes some good liquid coolers for a good price
Motherboard: Gigabyte B760 X AX (or whatever is on sale)
Memory: cant go wrong with some corsair vengeance
GPU: Asus dual 4070 (good for price but doesn't have rgb if you care)
Case: Lian Li O11 air mini (good airflow for better longevity)
PSU: Corsair (eg. RM750e) or SeaSonic
