I Need To Be Honest

Eminem is the most overrated rapper in the entire world. I might get hated for this since he has a huge fan base but I never understood the appeal. His first 3-4 albums are undeniably goated. I understand that. He's had a few good hits here and there the past decade but its mostly been more pop style songs.

The man has not released a good full studio album since like 2004-2005. Why is he so popular?

past 2007 he fell off hard, he was a genius and then just over time released worse and worse music and become more and more bigoted

graduation wasnt even all that, he released masterpieces like the life of pablo and yeezus after grad so i wouldnt say he fell off hard after '07.

life of pablo and yeezus were solid but nothing groundbreaking. I think they're fun/good albums to listen to but if you compare them to college dropout, late registration and graduation they aren't all that. This is especially considering people label Kanye as a "musical genius" still to this day.

if you want groundbreaking then 808s and heartbreak is way more groundbreaking than graduation and released after. i will not stand to see one of his more inconsistent and pedestrian LPs (graduation) be propelled as him at his best

agree to disagree, I think 808s and heartbreak is solid but I still think it's a step down. I'd definitely say 808s and heartbreak is one of his better pieces and maybe mbdtf but past that it really keeps going downhill

TLOP, Donda, Ye, Yeezus are all classics. Jesus is King and Vultures are the only flops in my books fr. But I am super biased. I've been in the .01% of Kanye listeners for like 4 years LMFAO.

maybe, I don't listen to recent rap too much honestly. I am a big old head so I'm pretty biased, but I'm pretty strong in my beliefs that Kanye fell off pretty hard and still labeling him a musical genius and saying he's one of the best artists is pretty crazy.

You go and ask 100 rappers what they'd do for a beat from Kanye or a verse on a Kanye album. See what they say. Regardless of his opinions, the man is just good at music.

yes because Kanye is still extremely popular and respected within the community. Doesn't mean I can't think he's overrated. It's not just about quality, music has a lot of politics. If I was a rapper even if I thought Kanye's music was mid I'd still want a feature from him because it's an easy $$$ generator. It'd be stupid to not take that.

See now that's crazy. The only misses he's had was Jesus is King and Vultures.

to answer your question: people remember his goated albums/songs and view the rest of his work through that lens.
