does having a better mouse improve performance?

i'm currently using a fake wired logitech office mouse and was ranked gold the last time I played comp which was a while back. The sensor's pretty bad which is clearly noticable when doing quick flicks, but otherwise I don't really notice any issues per se. Is upgrading my mouse worth the investment or is it more of a skill issue?

A better mouse will give you more room to grow, but it won't make you grow if that makes sense. You'll still need to put the effort and "training" in yourself but that training will be easier with a better mouse.

pros use mouse that cost like 100 dollars or more (logitech supelight). Also you'd need good refresh rate and fps to get the added benefit.

depends on what you're starting with and what your goals are.
if you have a mouse that spins out when you flick too hard then yes.
high end mice are only worth it if you're seeking that "competitive edge"

to an extent, then you get diminishing returns

in your case you probably have a lot to gain from upgrading, but as someone else mentioned all it does is raise your own ceiling, so dont expect to instantly rank up if you get a new mouse

I'm thinking of buying a budget gaming mouse like the vxe r1 pro and just see how it affects my gameplay. If it makes me better, great. If it doesn't, at least I have a good mouse now lol. Thanks

As long as your mouse has a good sensor and 1k polling rate, its good enough. Everything after that is personal preference. You can get mouse with good specs [good sensor and 1k polling rate] for as cheap as 20-40$ on amazon from companies like logitech, razer, hyperx. The difference between mouse like this and 150+$ mice like logitech g pro x and finalmouse is minimal. [usually lighter mice the more expensive it is, but that is all personal preference]
