The truly great players are the players that can frag on any team, role or any environment.
Tenz is good like many other players not great. He got clout and is the face of valorant. No players will or get the amount of second chances he got.
Remember him on jett last year?
As comparison zekken played great even last year with sykko as coach. Though he had one or two bad games with breach and raze in fracture but it was way low compared to tenz's bad performance.
But last year was a disaster for the whole team. Its not second chances but more of the whole sen team was ass for 2 years,in an environment like that ur duelist isn't gonna have any impact,u think the game is just ranked where u pick roles and play based on ur intuition?There needs to be strategies and protocols set in place for any piece of the puzzles to shine. U can't put individual performances as a limiting factor when ur whole team is shitting the bed.
Thats what I think what differentiates good from great. I still remember zekken knives ace with jett in lotus against c9 in LCQ while marved pancada tenz everyone was shitting the bed. A good player will still put up numbers regardless the situation he is put in cause raw skill and intuition of a pro player. Texture was putting up numbers everytime he was put on jett in GE. Yay downfall happened cause he got too confident and tried to play in t2 and in apac ascension winners team. But one thing yay didnt realize it was the good environment and teammates that set him up for success in optic core. Now yay expects every team to do the same and cant perform when his expectations arent met.
But u can't compare the yay situation to tenz cause tenz never played in a system to begin with. if ur making an argument for individual play u can look at tenz's 2021 and 2022 stats and see how carried the whole sen team on his back by himself. If thats not speaking for his individual ability then idk what ur looking for. 2023 was the first time he even got to play in a system but a failing one at that where everyone has role issues and even zekken had multiple bad games on off role and his in role. just cause u remember a highlight clip doesn't paint the whole impact of that player on server. Its like seeing the pancada ace when sen was losing to eg 10-2,is it nice?sure. But it doesnt help them win. A good example is sacy, where he isn't putting up numbers but u can tell his impact on the server.
