AMA with ZachaREEE, former Overwatch League Player [Completed]

I lost passion for the game over time with new heroes that were added like Brig and more shield heroes. Felt like a lot of the enjoyment from dps characters kinda dipped away. When Valorant was announced it was a mix of CS and OW and I was a really big cs fan/player a while ago and liked the aspects of OW that were mixed in so I figured I'd try it out.

I think the idea for homestands was pretty good and interesting, but the overall global league aspect was rough. Players from every country having to go to one country for s1/2 was interesting and the travel schedule was going to be abysmal for season 3. I think Riot's franchise path where they have LCK LEC and LCS and other leagues split up by continent is already good.

I was confident in myself transitioning from Overwatch to Valorant. I had practiced a lot on aim and bringing up my confidence. I would likely have quit OW in the future even if Valorant didn't come out because I didn't feel like I was in a good place mentally the past year or so.

I think the vandal is more fun to use because the headshots are super satisfying, but the Phatom overall is better and you'll get a lot more kills when you wouldn't with vandal.

I'm not really sure what class I'll "main" right now like I'm flexing to other roles for whoever's in my game. I play Brim, Omen, Sage, Sova, Cypher and Jett a lot at the moment

Honestly I have no clue what region will be dominant or if any at all, so many people are insane at the game in KR EU NA and other regions.

Valorant aim wise is a lot more punishing I'd say. If you miss your first few shots or if you lose focus you will get punished very hard. Overwatch you can be more lax during a lot of the times but theres still mechanically intensive moments, they just require different mechanics. OW is more ability based and Val is more aim and movement.

I think both have their benefits. I like both to be honest. CS major style is probably more hype than the franchise style but I don't really know what is better for the game.

I am familiar with LoL's franchise setup. I personally think their set up is good for League, but I'm not sure if it will mirror 1:1 with Valorant. It's hard to really say what the best will be for the game since it is so new but they should definitely try doing some major and loose third party style tournies like CS:GO does before moving to a franchise set up if they plan to.

If they do eventually franchise I think LoL's format is better than OWL.

If it was in the present, not really. In the past I would have liked to try playing CS:GO or LoL

Honestly I have no clue. Every OWL player's perspective is very different. You'd have to ask them. Some are hopeful others not.

I think players with a CS:GO background definitely have an advantage, but there are a lot of players from different games that have been doing very well during the beta and even at launch of the game. I wouldn't be surprised if the pro scene has people from different backgrounds than just CS:GO

My parents weren't super supportive initially but I had been playing for a while and eventually I had a real offer for Overwatch that was salaried. They basically let me pursue playing pro as long as I graduated from High School.

Physical health and Mental health are very important for gameplay. If your body is in pain or you cant focus because of things going on you will get distracted in game and lose focus. Staying fully focused is super important.
