it feels like the level of play isnt where is should be after 5 years of the game being out
this guy karon was playing ranked 6 months ago now hes a few rounds from winning a major?
either the scouting across val is absolutely terrible or the scene just isnt very skilled. probably a bit of both

3 things:
1) Valorant is still really young for a competitive game. There have only been 3 completed international seasons. Look at HLTV top 20 for the equivalent seasons for CS:GO. Some legends of the game for sure, but the s1mple wasn't on the list and superstars like zywOo weren't even close to playing tier 1. The true Valorant GOAT likely hasn't played in VCT yet.

2) The game has massively evolved since the beginning of Valorant. If you watch Reykjavik back none of those teams win a map in today's Valorant. The strat books are so much deeper they would get stomped and the utility and coordination are insanely higher.

3) Karon is a freak.

s1mple was top 4 hltv for 2016, 4 years after GO released.

there was already CS legends and goats in 2012 tho simple just overtook them

players like kennys getright and forest were already legends way early into cs

I picked the third season because there are only 3 completed seasons of international play, but fair.

cs took a long time to develop as well
it didn’t all start with just global offensive. think back to 1.6, source.

and even then csgo wasn’t that different from valorant now if you really think about it

the good teams from source were also good in go like nip and fnatic, just like how talented csgo players also managed to achieve good results in valorant (remember that tenZ was a bright up and coming csgo player)

then that dominant nip roster quickly fell off, being replaced by navi and the french super teams and brazilian teams.

valorant is still such a young environment compared to cs

you cant compare Val to early CS, people were going into Val with 2020 CS knowledge, early CS players were awful compared to now, so 1 year after Val realease people were already better than people 3 years after CS release by eye test

Enemy not learn also not expecting anything from the unknown player.
The case same as kangkang in master Tokyo (in prx perspective they already know how to handle EDG since champ 2022) so it's normal, the enemy even doesn't know how expecting since they don't perform anything

who would have thought that a guy dominating ranked (at the highest level) like he is much better than all of them could also be a pretty decent pro with a good team

Why can't u appreciate that guy instead of thinking allat?? Maybe Karon is that good , he is probably like a 1 in a million player or something. Half of the val pros are ex cs pros , players who played since beta at a high level, experienced t2 t3 players and a guy like karon is absolutely rare.

the level of competition isnt as high as it could be because of franchising, you cant expect players to get good when only 3 teams a year can join tier 1!

it hasnt been 4 years yet, and its the start of the year were teams are their weakest out of the year

Nepotism obv. Pacific has so many unsigned ranked demons, the ones in NA are atleast in tier 2 or failed to qual fairly

Well they said Karon finished his military service so that's why we didn't see him at all past 2 years + the changes in tactic, shots, new players coming in compared to 2021 is massive. They game IS evolving and you are just blinded by salty feelings + you are just another hater

yup dats the case, Karon must be also playing some or other FPS game since beginning.
Its just he wasnt able to shine due to growth of FPS in Asia + chances.
Imagine if GenG coaches didnt match up with him in Ranked, we would not know who Karon is probably till now.
n thus even Donk never SHINED b4 despite him playing for many many years or whatsoever.

I can guaranteed u rank demons that are 15 or 16 right now would replace most tier 1 in a couple of years. Miniboo , Karon are some of these new rookies

coming from a CSGO esports ecosystem, Val esports ecosystem might look very different. Checkout other esports like R6 or OW for reference

I'm pretty sure its just that the scene was filled with CS rejects or people who just switched from CS so teams never really scouted for players that started in valorant until now. Players like Karon and Zekken are showing that the talent pool within the actual game is higher than getting a person from CS.

Perhaps some teams are hesitant to shake up their roster, but it's crucial for them to bring in new talent scouts, ranked demons, and so forth. We've witnessed how teams like Heretics and Karmine Corp achieved remarkable success with their new rosters. The same case for EG with Demon1 last year. The key is not to shy away from bringing new energy to their team, there are many good young players out there hungry to compete, especially since Valorant player base keep on growing

I don't know what you are on about, i decided to watch a game of CS Major - C9 vs Vit (quarter final). I haven't watched CS Major in like 3 year and its still the same stuff. C9 saved like 10 rounds out of 13, they kept giving free kills, your "experienced" can't hit a awp shot for shit. The executes are still the same. Same mollies for executes, same smokes no innovation. The T side defaults for a min, CT side saves if they are down 2 cause economy is fked. They don't try to do a simple 5 man push when nothing is working out. It was boring AF.
