3 things:
1) Valorant is still really young for a competitive game. There have only been 3 completed international seasons. Look at HLTV top 20 for the equivalent seasons for CS:GO. Some legends of the game for sure, but the s1mple wasn't on the list and superstars like zywOo weren't even close to playing tier 1. The true Valorant GOAT likely hasn't played in VCT yet.
2) The game has massively evolved since the beginning of Valorant. If you watch Reykjavik back none of those teams win a map in today's Valorant. The strat books are so much deeper they would get stomped and the utility and coordination are insanely higher.
3) Karon is a freak.
cs took a long time to develop as well
it didn’t all start with just global offensive. think back to 1.6, source.
and even then csgo wasn’t that different from valorant now if you really think about it
the good teams from source were also good in go like nip and fnatic, just like how talented csgo players also managed to achieve good results in valorant (remember that tenZ was a bright up and coming csgo player)
then that dominant nip roster quickly fell off, being replaced by navi and the french super teams and brazilian teams.
valorant is still such a young environment compared to cs
