Why are Indians labelled as "scammers"?

I don't see the relation between scammers and india particularly. I'm sure there are scammers everywhere around the world, so why do we get racist comments about our "scamming culture" and not our crippling illiteracy and wretched socio-economic norms?

Because many of call center job in India is money scam calls. I know because I met someone who owned one hehe. They make lot of money, much more than we can imagine.

I feel like youtube titles influenced the stereotype onto indians

like how often do you see a video titled "I SCAMMED A NIGERIAN CALL CENTER!!" or "I SCAMMED AN INDIAN CALL CENTER!!"

there are a lot of indian phone scammers that call into the states (where most stereotypes are born)
scamming is more of an industry in india, while it's more difficult to get away with in first world countries
there are a lot of indians so there are going to inevitably be a lot of scammers who happen to be indian

this is obviously a misled stereotype in the united states though. when i lived in the states, i found that indians were more similar to white people than they were similar to, say, east asians. this is probably because many of them came to the states already very wealthy, meaning they could assimilate much more quickly (this is not to say they are culturally identical).

I agree. the Indian population is very diverse. the top 1-10% of the population live like a normal western household. but the other 90% are still living in the olden times. they haven't developed yet.

still, most of the people on internet are the top 10% like me so the stereotypes don't really make sense to us.

tbh the scammer and tech support stereotypes are very much true though lol not hate they’re morally correct but they aren’t offensive it’s just that those people work a lot of those jobs

Just from a factual standpoint a lot of companies contract people in South Asia because they’re cheap. As for the scamming there is a large amount of people from South Asia scamming or attempting. It’s just a country that has a large population of impoverished people

I got scammed a lot by Indians, now I use "Young Indian Method" and I'm easily farming 100k month by this. (YouTube)
