Anyone with a brain knows GC will face some sort of discrimination. It is natural when majority of the league is one sex.
The question is: "Is GC's existence itself a motivator of further discrimination?"
With GC, these players have an additional "label" attached to them. This categorization makes it easier to discriminate or write them off.
pros:
- no GC label that has negative connotation
- teams might actually consider ex-GC players instead of pushing them off to GC
- esports is ran like a charity, and GC is a super charity ($$$)
cons:
- GC provides a safe space & opportunity
- Riot hardly schedules events/games so the more events/leagues, the merrier
Lastly, I think the best option is a mix of the two. Keep GC but the talented GC players should play on other teams for Challengers/VCT.
This could be difficult tho since the good t2 teams are the most discriminatory (i.e. it is usually a house of guy friends that formed a team)
