Riot selling false fantasies with premier

Imagine being an aspiring pro and looking at how riot treat the guard players situation. Literally no way can random 5 individual who are free agents has any chance making it to franchising. Riot doesn't care about how good the players are or the hard work. They only care about the orgs who often abuse and use players.

in the first 10 partnered teams i get that the org has all the power instead of players, but in ascension where it all depends on the skill of the team, doesnt make sense for the spot not to be owned by the players. org can fck them last minute and all hard work gone to waste.

orgs are fked cause they can just screw over players. Riot need to wake up and realized why they're doing this in the first place for the pros/fans. Orgs only want to make money.

lets say ur just a casual player thats ascendant and have a 5 stack
you have a dream of going pro and started a premier team with your five stack
but after you've seen this, ur dream got canceled lol

Yeah like it's such a fake illusion. They talk about wanting a vision of nobodies to pros but the reality is that they need a good org that won't screw them over.

I feel that the current generation is very accustomed to a higher level of comfort. Just 5-10 years ago, there was practically NOTHING; not a single incentive for young people to become professional gamers. Even players of games like C.S 1.6 were almost paying to play.
The Premier serves as a huge motivation for the youth, BIG W FOR what Riot Games is doing.

2 players from LOUD left ranked to conquer Valorant's most important Tournament. Less and Aspas, so stop crying, my friend.

your thread: Riot selling false fantasies with premier

So, what you meant was ascesion, right.
But if you have to blame someone, do it with TheGuard, it all their fault.

thats true. nowadays people need all these incentives to compete but before it was just passion for the game. a lot of players/teams operated at a loss but didnt care.

Yes, I've heard stories about players like Fallen, Gaules, and many others from the Brazilian scene who would take money out of their own pockets to pay for travel and accommodation just to compete in an international tournament, knowing that they would only make a profit if they finished in first place. That's true passion for the game.

The difference is that in CS (either 1.6, earlier versions or later versions) you didn't need an org to make it to the top level. You just need to be good (or better said, your team needed to be good enough).

On the other hand, Riot pretty much forces players to have an org in order to be at the top level, prioritizing Orgs over the players that actually provide the skill. There's nothing screaming less "sports integrity" than that.

OP is correct, Riot is selling fantasies to players saying "we want nobodies to become pro". This is not the way to achieve this. Riot is just slowly signing their own Valorant eSports death sentence, much like 99% of franchises/partnership leagues before it.

Dude, just being a professional player for a tier 2 organization is enough for many people, you know? Why do you assume that only the top level of the franchise is valid?

You have no clue what you're saying. In my 8 years of playing high level CS 1.6 I've never heard any teammates (or any player for that matter) say "oh, I don't want to qualify for WCG/ESWC , I just want to finish 4th in the qualifier". Most players that commit to playing a video game full time want to make it to the top, this is not even a matter of discussion.

You're just talking nonsense now

My friend, I'm trying to say that things are much easier today than they were 10 years ago. The Riot Premier is excellent for people who dream of making a living by playing games. There's a lot of complaining, as if nothing is ever enough.

As for TheGuard players' situation, it's really sad, but the organization is so terrible that the players found out through Twitter that the org wasn't interested in joining the franchises. If there's anyone to blame in this story, it's TheGuard.

This is where you have it wrong. As someone that went from playing in the 4th national PGL CS1.6 division in Romania, all the way to winning ESL European tournaments, if I'd be a Val young player now and I would see what's happening with Ascension, I'd stay away from Premier and probably wait for CS2 to come out and try my chance to pro there.

The pyramid created by Riot only works if you prioritize players and their teams, because that's what it is based from in theory. Reality shows us that in practice this is not the case, so many people will consider it as a potential waste of time and resources. Remember, players in Premier and challengers will mainly have to pay for themselves, much like I had to pay my own plane tickets to fly to Spain to play tournaments. Eventually, nobody will risk doing that knowing that in the moment you are close to making it to the top, Riot can just pull the rug from under you.

They need demos, a FPL pug equivalent, and allow t2 to take gambling sponsors or something of that nature, and also maybe make the off season count for something

Yes, improvements do need to be made, but currently, the Riot system isn't a total disaster like many are saying.

It's not doomsday but I don't think players will be willing to take the risk either, i think franchising makes things more complicated than not. Only one team gets to ascend per year and there's very limited interplay allowing a t2 team to make it to the big leagues, there's no FPL and demo system where individual talent can shine and show scouts that outside of the team you can own. On top of that your org might go broke anyway (enough so that even 1M in subsidies wont cover) and then they ofc won't retain you for the rest of the year if theres no events. 6 months is a lot of time, and if there's no tournaments and FPL grind to keep you sharp, orgs might look past you to build a different team esp by recycling t1 dropouts and former 6th man's. Also I think you need invite only closed qualifiers to prevent smurfing and sandbagging in top level premier; esp in esports scene development I'm much more in favor of the valve model as opposed to Riot's

Would have been interesting if TT had won ascension. From what I am understanding is unsigned teams cant win ascension.

An org that riot approves. Riot has the full right to unapproved any org.

If that's true they should have explained that to the Guard and the Guard should have dropped the team and let the team get picked up. If it wasn't explained by Riot then the blame is back on Riot.

But we will never know. I am going to lean towards the Guard fucking these players over.
