Nope, this is the same as when you buy a slot into any franchised league. The NBA for example, when you buy a team the league has to accept you in. Same in LEC or LCS. Also The Guard started to crumble economically mid split. If they ejected them mid split it would have been worse

Riot needs to get all 5 players in franchised league. If that means subsidizing them for a season until an org can sign them than so be it, but riot should've been vetting the guard way sooner and found a better solution for this behind closed doors.

you don't buy slots in to valorant franchising? riot holds all the power over slots. they have the money, and if they don't find a way to field the guard's roster, this the game is finished in the next few years.

Exactly you don't buy the slot, so Riot has even more right to choose if you're in or not. I think if they didn't let them in is because the problem was very serious.

So you're suggesting 2 options,
1 Let the roster be picked up by another team. Alright but then you're selling a slot and having a massive auction to see who picked them up which can lead to several big issues again, inflated salaries, or even orgs not entering the game and waiting for opportunities like this

2 Riot pay the players, alright but how is that competitively fair? The organizer can't own a team if you know what I mean

Also Riot should pay the players as recompense for FUCKING THIS UP SO BADLY, I think the other players in the league will understand. Also if you're trusting riot to run LAN events and run the tournament client, you've already given them 100% trust and riot would never recover from rigging things for their own team, this is a nonexistent scenario.

Then who's taking the guard players. You can either let the players pick, aka an auction because the players will choose who ever pays the most. Or you can hand pick an org and help them reach an agreement, but then how is that fair for M80 for example? They don't get in and some random org that wasn't even there does

Riot didn't fuck up, The Guard did, what was Riot supposed to do kick them out mid split when they stopped investing and fired their staff? They could pay them but until when? You're going back to the first scenario at some point, it can't be forever

Yes you dense fuck, riot was supposed to kick them out mid split. That way it doesn't destroy the whole entire incentive structure of ascension. It also at least gives the guard the option to continue competing together as a free agent roster within ascension until they get picked up

Is not about M80, you can't hand pick an org that is not in challengers because how is that fair with all the orgs that have been competing this year? And it is really awkward if you do it with an org that has been there, and still unfair

you have a point here, but riot should then allow & financially those orgs to temporarily field their ascension roster as academy until they can sell it off, or pay to field the guard roster themselves. Riot has to pay for this fuckup or tier 2 is FINISHED

Also this would be just as fair as the Original franchising process so idk why you're pretending like this isn't a real option. Riot could consider the past team placements of the org into their decision if they want to, but they don't have to.
