I m big fan of PRX ( watched every match since last year start)
2022 Masters 1 - lost against Zeta ( amazing performance, 4th place)
2022 masters 2 - lost against FPX ( Heartbreak - but fine 5 maps, FPX anti strat Bind, and they threw a crucial 9-7 eco round 5th map and lost it. I was sad...moved on
2022 champions - bombed out in groups...2nd place curse...all good
2023 lock in - they got fucked (okay they are not in their form - still not a heartbeat - all good)
2023 masters - surprised they were so good with a SUB..CGRS the goat ( lost to EG - Happy about not getting 2nd team curse, almost sure this Champs was the chance)
2023 Champions - they played flawless except against Loud split till Grand finals
Now let me come to Grand finals ( one of Biggest heartbreak ever)
They pick Split Map 1 - Alex what are u on ? (Weed, LSD, or any new shit, Loud just fucked you 4days ago... Could have gone with Bind and played normal fucking comp which works)
Map2 - Nice performance
Map3 - Pearl ????? U came back 2 fucking times from 11-6 WTF...how much more confidence is needed...u are undefeated...
Map4, map5 - Lotus, Split (can go either way But u have advantage of confidence of first 3 maps )
Why try new comps in finals ? Why pick stupid maps in the first. I DONT MIND YOU GUYS LOSING. ATLEAST LOSE PLAYING THE THINGS YOU COMFORTABLE WITH. JUST TO NOTE APAC LOST THERE FINAL CHANCE TO LIFT A TROPHY. FORGET NEXT YEAR..ITS DONE...DRX AREN'T TOP 2 ANYTIME... ANYWAYS EG PLAYED INSANE...TOOK ADVANTAGE OF PRX STUPID MAP SELECTION AND OVERCOOKED UNPREPARED COMPS AND WON IT ALL. U HAD IT IN THE POCKET AND JUST HANDED IT OVER TO EG. SORRY FOR ALL THE FRUSTRATION. I NEED TO FIND MY PEACE. I WILL BE FINE IN A FEW DAYS. BUT DISAPPOINTED AS OF NOW. (if you have read all of this thank you for your valuable time)

u need to understand how much pressure they were under, they probably expected Split to be a free map for them, especially after the 8-4. Losing that map destroyed the mental i feel. Had they won split, winning Ascent would have been a huge boost and thats when Paper Rex thrive, when they are feeling on top
You gotta remember that the main goal of Paper Rex is to have fun. They don't care what place they get as long as they're having fun. Take Masters Copenhagen for example, in where on map 5 of Breeze, Paper Rex pulled one of the most unorthodox compositions for that map, with all of the agents picked at the time NEVER being picked at all in a breeze game. It comes to show that even if PRX are losing or winning, they want to have fun, and I want to say that they, in fact, had fun the whole tournament.
I agree this to some extent. But why try new comps in grand finals when the old comps are doing okay. Breeze was exception. I don't remember them playing breeze much in regular season...but they try to anti start teams in the grandfinal.. EG had what 14 hrs totally to prepare... ? Sticking to normal comps which they can play off each other works good enough. They had tons of practice with regular comp.
They just can't do that comp without an IGL, with Benkai there was a certain hierarchy with callouts. The current comp is purely based off vibes and to run that Yoru comp u need a high level of coordination which was completely missing.
It was like watching a ranked game the way everyone was making individual plays out of desperation, plus they just didn't land their shots too
I agree on your part that you can't just pull off a comp like that without callouts from an IGL and even though they didn't have that much coordination, the joy was there. They had fun. In the end, the main goal PRX established from the ground up was they wanted to have fun, WGaming on everyone they faced, and ultimately make their audience have a good time. Although this time, the pressure they had knowing Jingg was playing his final match, I felt like they were forced in a position that they had to win. Hopefully Paper Rex can bounce back and continue to give us good and funny moments from the five.
I think not being able to watch the next PRX game for 4 months is what makes this sooo painful as fans, if the next season started in 1 months time we'd be able to move on faster instead of prolonging this feeling of sadness and reliving that finals

You have to remember that it will never be the last chance for apac. Apac has a bigger player base, eventually the number of great apac players will increase until there are many good apac teams, the same is true with China. Stop prx coping, they will find someone else who is good and comeback strong.
I heard that alecks said in interview that he just want to get out of group stage, after that, half of the job was done, in playoffs, they just want to relax and have fun during tournaments. Its seems like they having some kind of mental block that drx had. But for prx, That's happened only on grand final. lol
