So i'm kinda new to Valorant, why does China gets 3 slots to champions? shouldn't Asia be a single region like EMEA and Americas, does it have anything to do with the fact that Riot is owned by a Chinese company?
They have years of inexperience compared to other regions they are just trying to jump start the scene. How do you expect their scene to grow when they only get one team to cheer for, with how big the Chinese scene could be for this game it’s only helping in the long run. Besides #2 Chinese seed looks better than most LCQ teams and some, who knows how they approach it in the future but complaining about them trying to keep the scene alive/grow is ridiculous. Pacific and Americas still have 4 slots and EMEA still had 5. It’s not like the level of competitive gameplay was brought down (besides FPX but look at T1 even) doubt Riot all you please but they made League into what it is
Chinese esports scene grows really fast, you can take league for example, similar thing happened, Riot is banking on that from an economics pov. There's a lot of potential for growth in China after the game got released there, more than half of the league players base is Chinese, so it stands to reason if it follows a similar trajectory as league that valorant will also have a big player base in CN (I don't think it will ever be as dominant as league, but it will be very competitive).
Also it's just good for CN teams to get experience internationally, otherwise you'll constantly get the one steamroller team consistently learning from squads around the world while all the other CN teams are playing their own game.
