Entire debacle has shown me that upper echelons of val comm are just as mentally deprecated as the lower. no difference between val pros and some fat fuck spending all his time on reddit and vlr, one just has 5k hours playing the video game

it sounds out-of-touch for sure, but obv he means nothing by it and it was just a poor choice of words at the time. The dude really has no personal reason to harbor any malintent for the t2 scene, so every valorant player and their mother using this as some sort of freudian slip moment is incredibly stupid
bc that wording implies no matter how hard the ascended team tried and no matter how great their performance gonna be when they are on the franchise league, they will never become a real franchised team, they will be gone after 2 years no matter what bc they are guest team. and that's a shit format, do relegation instead
calling them "guests" simply implies the slot is additional imo. esp in this context, there is no reason why he would degrade the team on purpose, so considering this bad wording is perfectly reasonable. again, i'm not defending his bad wording, just irritated that it was that minute part of his entire thread that everyone chose to subtweet/be anal about
It's the straw that broke the camel's back.
There was a growing annoyance about the t2 scene, people realising how devastating the off season would be.
Some changes are coming, i believe we will get another split + some more things (hopefully).
Leo said some things that were unnecessary and didn't help to calm any of the concerns.
riot runs the best esport scene by far in LOL, wym mismanagement
people are crying about t2 like esports as a whole is unprofitable atm, not something riot can control
franchising guarantees stability in t1 which is what actually profits for riot
the t2 scene will get better once mainstay teams are there and that comes with next season being longer

franchising is dogshit,
either adjust the hyper-inflated salaries and expected ROI that came with the covid boom from the top-down and let the scene breathe (this will probably save the entire esport scene as a whole tbh)
or make it so there partnered teams get invited to events and the rest of the non-partnered teams struggle through open quals in tournaments for a couple more slots (a few problems with this ik, mainly cause rito is super fucking greedy and already onboarded a fuck ton of franchising teams lol)
anything apart from franchising, shit format that kills scenes, should have no place in esports 👍
almost every esport is semi-franchised and yeah semi-franchising does work, valorant's full franchising tho
semi-franchising is what blast and esl do (my 2nd point) and it's perfectly fine, i have no problems with that. riot already jumped the gun by having 30 fuckin franchised teams tho, so that's not happening anymore, except we un-franchise some teams lol
all in all, let's wait and see what his "revised calendar" has in store, and decide then
agree with that actually, could work since riot's gifted everyone their slots and they didn't have to buy/bid for it
yeah more relegations/promotions would help i guess but you'd have to be relegating a lot of teams (at least 4-5 relegations/promotions) to satisfy the entire scene, but with valorant's implementation of franchising it could actually work
if they'd bought their way in riot would've had no option but to use cs' method, but they didn't so........cool
i still think still cs' method is WAY better/fosters way more integration but.....aiit i guess.
