CROWD factor

I might say that it's a huge advantage.

NRG s0m said on stream that they couldn't hear shit for 10 seconds after LOUD wins a round. GenG got really emotional (Meteor) after they lost. Twisten from VIT twitted that he couldn't appear at the press conference cause he was really sad and crying and didn't want to show and that the crowd wasn't in their favor.

It must be really pressing to play against a crowd roaring on your back, shit...

@edit His tweet long is sensitive and trigger warning...

Yeah, mental health is something really important and I'm glad he is ok. I must say: he played freaking great despite everything.

Should've played in a glass box. i don't think the noise cancellation works that much

crowd really impacts mental, especially if no one is on your side, you have to either take the energy and convert it into motivation on you’ll suffocate. tough for a lot of teams but end of the day thats just how esports is :]

hope twisten is feeling better, mentally, than before and he truly has a high ceiling. they didn’t play bad at all today, just felt hopeless after that first map.

nrg vs loud was expected, brazilian team and the brazilian crowd is intense, glad to see that nrg played an intense game.

NRG is kinda used to it, they come from CS most players and they know how BR crowd is and even so I don't think it's easy. Even if you are a really confident person it might shake you hard. I think it's a matter of experience in situations like this that shapes your mental.

Yeah, and he actually had a good connection with BR people. I really liked him but facing LOUD first game was unlucko for them. :(

Mental factor is part of the game and esports in general. The crowd is part of playing on LAN for these events. As a pro ppl have to understand and perform. Best team in the world can perform in high pressure consistently, that's why they're the best.

That's easier said than done. They definitely know that but when you are there, the anxiety, the worry, everything starts going wrong, the noise, keeping it cool is a matter of experience and most of the players don't have it yet (in Valorant).
Not only to mention that you can be experienced and cool but a team is made of 5 people and if not all of them are the same (experienced), you are screwed pretty much.

bro i'm saying its the same for any big esports, look at csgo/league lans. That's what makes being a top tier pro worth it and prestigeous.

There's that as well... Even in CSGO Major, S1mple experienced player lost to Furia and we could see his reaction, he was really nervous and sweating as fuck.

damn the testimonies from players regarding the crowd buff puts the LOUD vs. NRG match in a whole new perspective, imagine if the venue was different, or if ardiis didn’t miss that op shot on fracture

could’ve been anyone’s game, definitely the closest series of lock in, 100T vs. EDG being a close second

That's why suygetsu is a superior player on LAN, if you watch his streams he has typical zxc ghoul dead inside mentality and shittalks opponents in ranked, if it was possible to pause after multikill/clutches he would 100% do it and type "?" in all chat, crowd rooting against him will make him play even better than usual. I hope for Na'Vi vs Brazilian team at some point in this tournament because suygetsu will show his best.

NAVI won't have the crowd factor against them, not like today at least, it will be a fucking Monday. Sadge for LEV but it will be a freaking good match anyways.

I still can't understand why riot never try to go for glass box style, they have got to know the fact that noise cancelling headphones aren't useful from thousands of lan tournaments that they'd previously held in another game

Is there any other organizer that is doing glass boxes?

CS used to do them, but I'm guessing it's because it feels alienating for the experience, this is still a consumer product and idk if a crowd would appreciate having their players locked in a little glass box like its an empty room. Adds more drama, crowd interaction, and adds a mental aspect to make the game more difficult

I just remembered that Riot BR did that in the last chance for champions: https://youtu.be/4_2HtHAxrTE?t=14617

Just want to say that from what I've seen of Twisten he seems like a really good guy and I'm glad he is recovering from that low point in his life. He always brings energy and entertainment to any match he plays and his offer to donate 25 euros to the earthquake victims for every shorty kill at this LAN is extremely generous. I know how hard it is to go through severe depression and how much strength it must have taken Twisten to have fought and continue to fight depression. I know a lot of vlr is trolling and shit talk, but it is always important to be reminded that we are all loved and what we are going through is temporary and not worth our lives <3
