This is actually a post with effort by the way and not some meaningless 1 line trash post like usual on these forums
100t results against top teams (Sentinels, XSET, Envy, etc) since April. Why April? April was the qualifier for Iceland, so the last time we saw NA before this event was April for Challengers Finals, then July which was Challengers 1, and now obviously another Challenger Finals the last week. Looking at all of the 100T Sentinels series, they don’t look close, since it's typically been a 2-0. However, I think they are a lot closer than they seem when Asuna is turned on.
Challengers Playoffs (April):
100T played Sentinels in the upper bracket semis, losing 1-2. Here is a quick breakdown of the maps.
Map 1: Haven: 11-13 (Sen pick): Very close game. This is the game where 100T got ecoed by sentinels on the last round of the game, while trying to force OT, by a TenZ Sherrif 4k. It’s not a repeatable thing and just shows how good of a player TenZ is that he can pop off like that. Should have went to OT.
Map 2: Icebox: 13-3 (100t pick): Dominant by 100t. Stomp
Map 3: Bind: 4-13 (Organizer Pick) Dominant by Sen. Stomp
Had 100t won haven, which was a real possibility, or forced OT and won, and TenZ hadn’t popped off so hard, then it could have been a 2-0 for 100t which would make the whole scene look entirely different.
Challengers 1 (July)
100T played envy, Xset, and sentinels in this tournament so it was a good representation of the current scene’s skill.
100T vs Envy, Winner’s Semis, 2-0
Map 1: Haven: 13-9 (Envy pick): Competitive, but a clear win by 100t. Final score not super close in the end but still a competitive game and definitely not a stomp.
Map 2: Icebox: 13-7 (100T pick): this is pretty much as low of a score as you can get without having it be called a stomp IMO. It’s a pretty dominant win.
So 100T pretty much rolled envy in both maps to get the better seeding, so envy fans don’t be crying about challenger finals and how 100T only qualified for Berlin because they had better seeding and didn't play Sentinels in the upper bracket… They beat envy for the seeding and then beat them again for seeding in Berlin.
100T vs Xset, Winner’s Finals, 2-1, SEEDING GAME
It’s a seeding game so it’s not as competitive but no pro players are trying to lose, the yare still giving it their best, just not showing their best strats.
Map 1: Haven: 12-14 (100T pick): Another close haven game that 100T cannot deliver. Went to OT and lost it.
Map 2: Icebox: 13:4 (Xset pick): This is a stomp. Safe to say 100T is the best Icebox team after only giving up 14 rounds in 3 maps.
Map 3: Ascent 10-13 (100T pick): Pretty close game, almost a 13-11 but not quite. Competitive the whole map.
Close series, 2 close maps, 1 went to OT, and one was a stomp.
100T vs Sen Loser’s Finals, 0-2, SEEDING GAME
Again, it's a seeding game so you can’t read much into it, but some of the players hate each other so it's also a personal thing. Both teams are definitely trying and it's not that they are trolling.
Map 1: Haven: 13-15 (100T pick): Another close OT game in haven that 100T loses, if they were slightly better on haven the last few months the whole scene would be different.
Map 2: Breeze: 8-13 (Sen pick): Semi-close, not quite competitive but not a stomp. Something interesting is that the first half was 6-6, with 100t starting on defense. That's a really good defensive half for breeze, which most people agree is a heavily attacker sided map. However, 100T only could get 2 executes that worked in the second half. I thought that if they could fix whatever their attacking issue was, then they could be really good on this map and beat sentinels on it. Or sentinels are just really good at defense on this map since the rotations play into their style.
Challengers Finals - Berlin Qualifiers
100T played XSET, ENVY, and SEN x2 again
2-0 XSET, Upper Semis. This was the most important match for these 2 teams in the whole tournament. If they won, they could avoid having to play any of the other teams to qualify again.
It was a 2-0, but as close of a 2-0 as you can get. 100t narrowly won. Could have gone either way and both teams made 2 comebacks, but XSET didn’t do enough with theirs.
Map 1: Haven (XSET pick) 13-11: 100t put together a great comeback in the second half to come back from 3-9. Finally they win a haven game
Map 2: Ascent (100T pick) 13-11: XSET also put together a great comeback in the second half to come back from 12-5, however 100T really should have closed it out earlier. 100 Throws.
0-2 Sentinels, Upper Finals SEEDING MATCH
Dominant series from sentinels, stomped first map and second was close at 8-8 until sentinels went on a 5 round winstreak.
Map 1: Split: 13-2 (Sen pick)
Dominant from sentinels, 100t had no chance
Map 2: Haven: 13-8 (100t pick):
Regardless of what the scoreline was, the map was another close haven series, at 8-8, until sentinels ran away with it.
3-2 Envy, Losers Finals SEEDING
Even though it's seeding, it's still important because seeding in Berlin will matter. Envy is still getting used to their new roster, so they will only get better which is pretty scary for NA T1 teams, since they took sentinels and 100T to the brink already. Picks don’t really matter much in a bo5 because you are gonna play almost all the maps anyways
Map 1: Haven: 5-13: Stomped. Surprised it wasn't close since usually 100t barely loses haven. They got worse or envy is good.
Map 2: Breeze: 13-10: Pretty close game
Map 3: Ascent: 13-10: Pretty close game
Map 4: Icebox: 8-13: This is supposed to be 100T best map, did teams figure them out with asuna on the ropes now? Semi-close, although 100t never looked like they would win or tied it up later on.
Map 5: Split: 13-5: Thought 100t would lose since they got 13-2 by SEN on this map, is envy just that much worse?
Overall, 2 close games, 1 somewhat close game, and 2 stomps
1-3 Sentinels, Grand Finals SEEDING
Map 1: Bind: 11-13: Very competitive and close game, especially for a perma ban, although it's likely that they perm banned bind so that they didn’t get streamed playing it and could anti-strat sentinels. It almost worked. Had they won, they would have played on icebox. The last time that happened 100t won 13-3, so I’m curious to see what would have happened.
Map 2: Breeze 13-11: Close game, I will say that sentinels had some insanely lucky kills several rounds that won them rounds, however it happens to all teams. These just were particularly memorable. (Sick vandal spray hits the 1 head pixel, zombs spray through smoke kills 3)
Map 3: Haven 13-6: Stomp. 100T haven has fallen off a cliff it seems.
Map 4: Split 13-5: Stomp, not as bad as before though.
So there have been a lot of games that 100t has narrowly lost to sentinels (and also the ones that they win they have narrowly won typically, but that's how the scene should be). Stop under rating 100t, had they won bind which is a very real possibility, then it would have been a map 5 on Icebox which 100T is supposed to be really good at, even though they just lost to envy 13-8. Obviously sentinels stomped 2 maps, but the 2 maps that were not played are supposedly maps that lean the way of 100T. I think 100T had a very weak map pool, but with bind back, now it might not be so weak.
compare map pools:
100Tbeen perma banning bind, but evidently they are good on that map.
Ascent: Supposedly leans the way of 100t but not much to base off
Bind: very close (probably a counter start though so not sure)
Breeze: very close
Icebox: 100T is supposed to be the clear winner here.
Haven: Used to be very close (13-15,11-13) but Sen just stomped twice so not sure.
Split: Sen clear win
