This is gonna sound bitter bc of flair but the only good win they have is against 100T. They lost to G2 twice and then they just beat all the Chinese teams and FUT. They have played great I wouldn’t take that away from them, second best in the tourney only behind Gen G, but it’s not really a magical run. GenG have been on a magical run if anything. Only big team they didn’t beat has been PRX and TH bc they haven’t played those teams.

posted 5 months ago

The playstyle they have is fine, they’ve had good placements at international tournaments for 2+ years now. The problem as you mentioned is they throw a lot. They just need to rein it in a bit more and be more disciplined, or if ur gonna peek, win ur duels. On the whole the team was not fragging as well as they normally do. Mindfreak, forsaken, and JINGG all had a shaky tournament. All this and they still could have easily one yesterday. It’s a matter of cleaning things up rather than making big changes

posted 5 months ago

They also didn’t cheer for T1 as much either. Is there Korea beef with China I’m not locked in fr

posted 5 months ago

I feel like the crowd didn’t cheer for T1 either tho

Good deal I’m in

posted 5 months ago

A lot of swing 1v1s imo. Bang not holding the off angle boostio throwing man advantages. And also g2 clutched a lot

posted 6 months ago

It’s about time we get an APAC winner tbh. They’ve now had 3 very good teams and not one has lifted a trophy. Surely with NA and EMEA top dogs in flux this is their event…

posted 6 months ago

I don’t think any run at an international event is a fluke just given the fact there are so few international events to determine that lol. But I would say that the belief or idea that SEN were so far ahead of everyone else was probably wrong. In truth besides them and Loud, every other Americas team was either formed late or made changes last minute. And then in the case of Kru and G2 they made changes post kickoff pretty quick which makes me believe that issues were already there and these changes were being pondered. SEN and Loud were the beneficiaries of getting their full 5s pretty quick and were able to have offseason with them. Now the other teams have had time with their squads and have caught up imo.

I mean i wouldn’t call that an anti strat as Fnc play the standard breach comp on haven. Saying Loud comp is made to counter Fnc comp is just saying aloud comp is made to counter meta

This narrative that they weren’t trying is a bit over blown imo. But regardless EDG is much tougher than anyone they played in groups recently still. Ultimately I believe they have a chance bc as much as I love demon1 he hasn’t played a match where he was like by far and away the best player in the server. KangKang has though. Basically what I’m saying is imo EDG have the best player in the server and like in any game or sport when you have the best player on your team you will always have a chance

A couple things. The original buff was extremely strong. When you walked through her orb or wall you took -50 damage in addition to decay rather than the -30 we see today. Her mollies also had a bit higher dps than it does now. The other thing is the map pools. Valorant imo releases maps specific to certain agents that are weak in the meta to give them meta maps, viper got pearl, breach got fracture etc. viper ended up becoming essential on maps like breeze and icebox and then because of her buffs she was strong on bind and split. These things have caused viper to be what she is today

If Asuna stays, imo it’ll be for his raze entry and the team should prioritize it. Luckily for him there’s a raze shortage in tier 1 but unlucky for him it doesn’t seem to be a raze meta. Makes it rough bc his skye isn’t all that and his kayo is so so

posted about a year ago

His standouts this season were week 1 against SEN, LEV, and KRU. Other games he was either mid or bad but he turned up in those three/ was the main reason 100T won or kept it close

If Loud were off form then so were DRX tbf. I agree on the whole though PRX had harder competition especially considering they are playing with a sub. FNC are simply best team itw rn. If they mop EG it’ll make any teams run who had to face FNC in this tourney more impressive.

posted about a year ago

Yeah but it’s still NAVI. The problem lies more in the fact that there’s 3 international LANS a year so it makes it hard to truly determine where a team is at since events just aren’t consistent enough. But 1 bad event doesn’t mean they are a bad team or more importantly that beating them isn’t impressive. Loud got grouped at Copenhagen and then won Champs the very next event. I agree NAVI didn’t look good in EMEA playoffs but outside of Liquid, no one had a good showing relative to their expectations in EMEA playoffs

posted about a year ago

I really don’t like this argument. EVERYTIME an underdog beats an established team it’s always the established team played bad, or threw. Never that the underdog team improved their level. EDG played well and deserved to win. Ur statement works better if that was their only good showing but then they were a round away from beating liquid and also 2-0 Loud.

There was very little if any tape on teams at this event. Couple that with a meta change agent wise and economy wise from when we last saw them in redbull homegrounds it makes sense why they werent great. You can even see in some of their agent comps for maps IDK if they have fully adapted yet because they IMO are not as optimal as other comps played from other teams. This is the teams second big LAN together still getting used to the big stage though I think that one is not as big of a factor. Lastly, we may have severly underrated many teams at this tournament due to lack of tape and the new map Lotus really being a factor. Teams like Secret, Furia, and Talon all played above what many expected and the same could hold true for EDG and FUT. Just my two cents though

posted about a year ago

True but their cores all had consistent top 5 finishes in multiple international LANs, 100T is newer and does not have that undeniable success yet. Though I think they will go far in this tourney, its wrong to call them favorites I think
