Not directly, they can qualify to the main league and from there they can go to champs

Well, ofcourse. They first have to qualify to the league. I thought that was given, but you are right I should have probably specified when he asked about 2023 specifically.

Yeah I feel like ascension winner should also go to that years champions on top of the org becoming franchised but riot doesn't seem to want to do that

Nope because ascension will be easier than the main league .Its like saying that a t2 team should go to the best t1 tourney because they won against other t2 teams

Yeah that's true, it's not like that's unheard of though, many games have a 'wild card' team from the winner of the minor regions which are much easier.
I think it's the best for enabling possible Cinderella storylines, what the guard did isn't possible with franchising but if ascension went then it makes it possible.

Putting them in LCQ would be my ideal, can;t happen this year though since ascension and LCQ is scheduled at the same time

That wouldnt make much sense, in theory ascension is supposted to be "The best of the rest" no reason for them to get a spot when the other (lets say 6 teams per league) teams from the "best of the best" didnt go. Also the reward is supposted to be the promotion.

Nope. Not this year. But next year, the Ascension wimner will be part of the International Leagues and has a shot to qualify for Masters or Champs
