I like anime for a lot of the things animation can explore that live action can't, in the west, cartoons are seen as for children (although this is changing) so you don't see any mature stories like monster for instance. The way anime treats woman is pretty cringe a lot of the time, woman really only exist to be main character love interest, they have no character arc/development, the most 1 dimensional personality where people are able to describe the character with just 1 word, tsundere, yandere, ect. And half of anime is highschool kids which was cool when I was in high school but now I'm older watching those anime make me feel like a predator especially with the amount of fan service

honestly for the heroine part ur spot on, at first i was just enjoying the story not thinking about the female lead and just treating it as the show wants but after watching so much anime i'm finding it to be less and less enjoyable and extremely cringe
i feel like i would enjoy the anime more if the heroine had some kind of character development or even a decent character to begin with

isekai is an incredibly great concept with the worst possible execution. Theres so much great stuff you can do with the concept of being transported to another universe with your current knowledge - but 99% of them are shitty power fantasies , and 99% of those power fantasies have harems. Its sad.

I agree in theory isekai could be good, I think the reason why it never is, is because any author who is good enough to write a quality story normally avoid isekai, the authors attracted to isekai are ones that need crutches/going for cash grab.

Best medium of entertainment by far, it encompasses all aspects of art. Even silly SoL shows with waifus in it clear the entire Netflix live action catalog except for Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

But I don't like TV shows and movies either.
I hardly ever look at them.Because I hate the way they are，a lot of them is brainwashing.
I prefer reading books and watching the news.See the world with my own eyes

I'm not American.
I say they are brainwashing because they are made by person.
Such as a movie .Director or scriptwriter make their point in the story,Whether it's about life or love or politics or society.
I don't need it or I refuse to accept it.and I'm not interested in their cheesy stories either.
And why I say ‘’brainwashing‘’ ， we don't come up with these points by thinking for ourselves ,someone gave them to us.

although I wouldn't frame it as brainwashing, I would obviously agree there are ideas and themes they are trying to 'sell' you, but how are books and news any different? Books also have an idea and theme and the news literally exists to get engagement so it's going to give a narrative that sells not one that's true

You are right about the book.They give us brainwashing too.
Maybe I just like the gentle way book have.If you don't read it you won't accept its points.
I think when I read. I read philosophy books and psychology books.They are difficult to understand and I will not read them without interest.But when you find something you really like，it will be full of pleasure and satisfaction.
My favorite philosophers are Arthur Schopenhauer, Kant, Plato and Chuangcius,Wang Yangming（they are Chinese philosophers）.Then I realized I was an idealist.

90% is garbage.
I started watching like 20 to 40 animes each year from 2016 to 2018. (Previously watched/watching OP, FMAB, Naruto, Bleach, etc)
Results: I hate it almost everything.
So i started actually picking old and new animes that were
overly popular or recomended to me, and was much more enjoyable.

Top 5 of all time:
Tatami Galaxy
HxH
One Piece
Baccano
Sangatsu no lion

Honorable mentions:
Naruto (Solid anime/manga until Kishimoto throw more than 10 years of work in the garbage)
Shigatsu wa Kimi no uso (special to me)
Durarara (it's the from the same author of Bacanno)
Haikyuu

It seems like a super enjoyable genre but i struggle to get into it because #1 the dialogue is often times super cringe inducing #2 so many of the characters seem like pure fanservice and 100% of character development is put into 1 person.
Despite this i still enjoy some shows in the genre (btw could someone recommend a short/just started anime thats not a romance/childish shounen)

There are some really brilliant shows but they are limited and you quickly get into the weird Incest harem loli degenerate shit after you finish watching the good shows.

Some shows like Steins Gate just introduce all those weird tropes into an actually good show.

The top 5 or 10 shows are better than anything other mediums have ever produced.

The good stuff is definitely better than Hollywood movies and shows. The incest harem loli shitt is also wayyy better than 99% of the movies Bollywood makes.
