Dude u haven't read about the world before middle earth. LOTR world is the best. GOT world is not that deep and full of wars with same families.

you know that they don't follow any of his books tho, right? they bought the rights to the appendixes etc, not the silmarillion. tolkien's works function as a blue print to guide them, they essentially do their own thing without trying to violate the lore too much. it's basically like GoT after season 4-5...
