LDN UTD played the first stage of the 2022 VCT under its own name, placing in the top 10 of Stage 1: EMEA Challengers. Once Stage 2 began, the London-based organization announced OG LDN UTD OG LDN UTD Inactive , a joint venture with OG, who would begin paying the Valorant team's salaries according to the report.

The team's rampant success appears to have come at a cost, as lack of funding was one of the greater motivators for this change. Only new investments, according to the report, will stop the deal from falling through. The report and Bo Hoogland also point to the partnered EMEA league — for which OG is still in the running while LDN UTD isn't — as another possible motivator.

According to the report, the split is part of a larger move by LDN UTD to move away from the competitive scene. The organization appears to be switching its model to focus on business and operations, which includes event hosting and tournament organization. Earlier this month, the organization left the NLC, the regional LoL league for Northern Europe.

According to EsportsNewsUK, though, LDN UTD's presence in competitive esports may not be over. The team could go back to their roots, acting as a grassroots organization that breeds younger talent.

The OG LDN UTD looks to be sunsetting four months after its inception, where the team was only present in two tournaments. After a top-eight placement in Stage 2: EMEA Challengers, they had secured enough points to attend the EMEA LCQ. While OGLU secured upset wins over G2 Esports G2 Esports Inactive and Guild Esports Guild Esports Inactive , a rematch against the former eliminated OGLU in fourth, bringing their VCT campaign to an end.
