They actually did it faster than 6 months sometimes like for the last champions so that the picks and bans made sense. Now it's just not as necessary since you have to rotate maps. Look at Cs lol
they said the replay system was one of their highest prioritees and then came back after being quite for 1.5 years about it just to tell us that we wont get a replay system because they wanna focus on stuff like rewarding players that play their game (still no free skins besides pistols btw) and community behavor (snowflake behavior)

Riot makes enough profit from the game itself alone, no1 in esports really makes a profit, not orgs or tournament organizers, only maybe franchises and only if it works out well, the goal of esports for a game developer is not making a profit, its just pure marketing of the game and keeping it healthy, its literally just an investment, it would even be more profitable to them if they did like valve where they let esl/blast/pgl host tournaments all year long and then give 1million for the world championship, this current circuit where we get 1 international tournament every 4 months and some teams can go out playing only 2 matches is a shame to competition, also knowing riot they are probably going to make it so international tournaments from now are even more elitist where only 2 teams per region or something are allowed to go, this format wouldnt be so bad if it gave a lot of spots for each region in international events but its riot so they wont
