Heard so many bad things about the lightyear movie, has pixar fell off?
it has nothing to do with that but for the fact everyone knows that its just cringe virtue signaling from a multi billionaire company its so pretentious and everyone knows they just made the whole thing up for the sake of virtue signaling, you act like they just came up with a black lesbian astronaut and buzz realizing his sexuality because its a amazing plot for a fucking childrens movie, yeah no
i agree with u partly. they are a billionaire company that dont care about gay people. but the thing is its way better than getting no representation at all. people like ben shapiro, jordan peterson hate these type of representations. if its pissing of a group of alt right people then i think its doing its job somewhat.
see dude. a lot of what u said later absolutely made a ton of sense. but we have to start somewhere. there r shitty movies that involve straight people too. the thing is first we have to normalise gay people in lead roles and movies and sure some of those movies might not be good and most of them will be a product of rainbow capitalism. but again we have to start somewhere rather than wait for a masterpiece to arrive
ohk this shit is beyond my comprehension. how is not existing in movies help gay people in any possible way. diversity is very imp when it comes to normalising this stuff among 12 nd 13 year olds who think being homophobic is funny. every movie is not out there to bring in a change or revolution. its a very gradual process. unless we all wanna be anarchists and bring out real change, which i am all for too btw
it's only antagonizing people that are homophobic already. big films like disney are a part of everyone's lives growing up so it's important to have representation there. (Yes it might be a forced romance plot point that isn't well written, but ofc this one is getting more attention from both sides because of it being lgbt)
Pixar fell off after Disney acquired them. They still make the occasional great movie like back in the days (soul being a prime example) but most of their current work is mediocre/bad. There is a big emphasis on earning the big bucks after the Disney acquisition instead of pushing risky great artistic cinema.
