Heard so many bad things about the lightyear movie, has pixar fell off?
asdfgh [#4]everytime movies try to force diversity its just cringe af cant take it seriously, dont know about the movie but thats already a good enough reason to hate it
how is it forcing diversity for gay people to simply exist lol they didnt even market the kiss
amyayayy [#5]how is it forcing diversity for gay people to simply exist lol they didnt even market the kiss
exactly. i have no idea what this guy is on about. its not like there was anything remotely lewd in that movie either. maybe the story is shit but its really dumb to say that the movie is bad cuz of a gay couple just existing
rishu004 [#6]exactly. i have no idea what this guy is on about. its not like there was anything remotely lewd in that movie either. maybe the story is shit but its really dumb to say that the movie is bad cuz of a gay couple just existing
EXACTLY, its not like they said "omg 2 girls kiss give us your money"
nutab1e [#8]literally one movie that wasn't stellar. Turning red and soul were amazing
even luca was enjoyable tbh

how it was part of the plot and could've been a reason why buzz kept tryna go to the space to cope with his crush finding someone else

it has nothing to do with that but for the fact everyone knows that its just cringe virtue signaling from a multi billionaire company its so pretentious and everyone knows they just made the whole thing up for the sake of virtue signaling, you act like they just came up with a black lesbian astronaut and buzz realizing his sexuality because its a amazing plot for a fucking childrens movie, yeah no

DISNEY MADE GAY PEOPLE UP? YOURE ONTO SOMETHING
amyayayy [#12]DISNEY MADE GAY PEOPLE UP? YOURE ONTO SOMETHING
ARE YOU FUCKING DUMB OR DO YOU SERIOUSLY NOT GET MY POINT,LIKE BE 100% SERIOUS
asdfgh [#13]ARE YOU FUCKING DUMB OR DO YOU SERIOUSLY NOT GET MY POINT,LIKE BE 100% SERIOUS
is it weird when you see straight couples, why is it weird for you to see gay couples just existing, how is it suddenly sexualizing children all of a sudden? lmfao

i agree with u partly. they are a billionaire company that dont care about gay people. but the thing is its way better than getting no representation at all. people like ben shapiro, jordan peterson hate these type of representations. if its pissing of a group of alt right people then i think its doing its job somewhat.

i guarantee you this movie made people hate lgbtq more, this is only negative representation
nutab1e [#8]literally one movie that wasn't stellar. Turning red and soul were amazing
Turning Red was trash. Soul was good. IMO
asdfgh [#19]what?
do you feel weird when straight people kiss in movies? snow white cinderalla, NO RIGHT? its family friendly content, then why is 5 seconds of gayness virtue signalling
amyayayy [#23]do you feel weird when straight people kiss in movies? snow white cinderalla, NO RIGHT? its family friendly content, then why is 5 seconds of gayness virtue signalling
what?
also no i also dont "feel weird" when anyone kisses idk what your saying
nutab1e [#20]oh true I forgot about that one
yes, recent pixar movies havent been as deep as coco or inside out but theyre still insanely fun
asdfgh [#21]i guarantee you this movie made people hate lgbtq more, this is only negative representation
see dude. a lot of what u said later absolutely made a ton of sense. but we have to start somewhere. there r shitty movies that involve straight people too. the thing is first we have to normalise gay people in lead roles and movies and sure some of those movies might not be good and most of them will be a product of rainbow capitalism. but again we have to start somewhere rather than wait for a masterpiece to arrive
asdfgh [#21]i guarantee you this movie made people hate lgbtq more, this is only negative representation
it's only antagonizing people that are homophobic already. big films like disney are a part of everyone's lives growing up so it's important to have representation there. (Yes it might be a forced romance plot point that isn't well written, but ofc this one is getting more attention from both sides because of it being lgbt)
asdfgh [#24]what?
also no i also dont "feel weird" when anyone kisses idk what your saying
u dont feel weird when straight ppl kiss but when theres a 5 second gay scene u go "it has nothing to do with that but for the fact everyone knows that its just cringe virtue signaling from a multi billionaire company its so pretentious and everyone knows they just made the whole thing up for the sake of virtue signaling, you act like they just came up with a black lesbian astronaut and buzz realizing his sexuality because its a amazing plot for a fucking childrens movie"

why can we not just make movies for the sake of making good movies, movies dont NEED diversity

im not homophobic i just dont like cringe
asdfgh [#30]why can we not just make movies for the sake of making good movies, movies dont NEED diversity
children not having media with lgbt representation leads to more bullying of lgbt people in school because kids like to shun people that are different and they don't understand.

ohk this shit is beyond my comprehension. how is not existing in movies help gay people in any possible way. diversity is very imp when it comes to normalising this stuff among 12 nd 13 year olds who think being homophobic is funny. every movie is not out there to bring in a change or revolution. its a very gradual process. unless we all wanna be anarchists and bring out real change, which i am all for too btw

MAN WHAT,are you living in the same reality as me,you think people will not bully lgbtq kids because the media tries to normalize them, thats just more annoying

obviously it is also up to parents and schools to educate kids but childrens movies are always meant to teach a moral lesson so this is no different, as societal views of right and wrong have changed. (plz don't ban me enigma)

it doesnt help either

well now kids in 14 countries cant even see this movie, people have different values, you can simply teach bullying or discrimination isnt ok
amyayayy [#5]how is it forcing diversity for gay people to simply exist lol they didnt even market the kiss
I think a few actors came out saying that "if you don't like it, then you're just a kid that needs to grow up" and it pissed people who had religious beliefs that didn't align with it or people that just rejected the notion in general.
Pixar fell off after Disney acquired them. They still make the occasional great movie like back in the days (soul being a prime example) but most of their current work is mediocre/bad. There is a big emphasis on earning the big bucks after the Disney acquisition instead of pushing risky great artistic cinema.
