rito giving a free slot to "the best team in japan" while teams like c9, gambit, v1, guild, liquid, acend have to see it from home LOL
I dont agree, imo the premise of international events is have the best teams of the world, if 90% of top teams were from Europe like in CSGO, thats just how it is, you can give minor regions representation while not underrepresenting EMEA like this, if Japan has 1 slot, why not also MENA? Doesnt Arabia and North African teams deserve a slot too if Japan is there?
yes, I watch for quality of gameplay and I strive for sporting excelence, if the best teams are from outiside EMEA I would still watch, we are not the same, you watch your national teams/favourites teams so you are a casual viewer, I watch because I love the competitive aspect of the game and want to watch the best teams idc where they are from
Don't get me wrong lol, I still watch games like CSGO even though no East Asian team is relevant in the top-tier scene. I understand the idea of striving for competitive excellence, but if you know anything about what kind of game Valorant is gearing itself to be you would understand why Riot adopted my line of reasoning instead of yours.
Look at League of Legends compared to DOTA 2.
There's no point in having "International" competition if you strive for excellence only; Riot knows this, and that's why League of Legends is the biggest esport in the world while DOTA 2 and CSGO are not.
they dont care about competition, they just want to secure the viewership from different parts of the world not have the best quality gameplay and best teams in the world in the event, so sad, its almost like these events are a show for them having them once every 3 years and most teams are not even good
