So i've never watched cs. infact valorant is my first FPS game that i follow the professional tournaments of, so i've never heard of any of these big names before. But today i was just looking into kennyS and one thing led to another in the hltv.gg and i saw that JJampi was banned for cheating? even steel, i even saw a name sayf, dk if it's the same one from valo sayf but yeah, wtf is this. how are these players who are known for cheating so adored ?? it was really surprising for me because forsaken is a name i've heard of before, and people hate him

people make mistakes and grow from it. steel was banned for throwing, jamppi for acc sharing then cheating, babybay was banned too. i dont think we should forget these past deeds but we as a community should definitely let them space to grow and become a better person. some people try to completely ignore the bans tho which i dont agree with.

You're still breaking the "rules" of the game, it wasn't about the contract he was in

Absolutely, I think that players like Steel have recovered and dealt with the after math of his match fixing well. And I feel that the fanbase has treated him well as a result. It should still be remembered because match fixing is such a terrible deed

Valve issues very severe punishments for cheating/matchfixing/account sharing, such as being banned from competing at Valve ran events. So many of these players continued to play in Tier 2 or 3 until Valorant came out, many then switched because they had no future in CS:GO.
Washed and bad players like Tenz or Scream also left CS because they were at a dead end in their career there.

Allegedly, he let his friend borrow his account. This friend then cheated resulting in a VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) ban which was permanent, non-appealable and resulted in never being able to play at Valve ran events. I don't think he was pro at the time, but the ban stuck around anyway.

That was way before he became a pro. Him and his friends had a lan party and he bought the game for one of his friends, iirc, and than that friend downloaded hacks later on. The csgo purchase was linked back to jampii which is why he received the VAC ban. After Jampii moved to Valorant, Valve changed some of their vac ban policies which ultimately lifted his VAC ban since he was not a professional player at the time of the vac ban.

Steel was part of the infamous iBUYPOWER matchfixing scandal way back in 2014. Everyone on the roster, except skadoodle (since their were no receipts that proved he received any skins meaning he denied them or didn't know bout the match fixing) received lifetime VAC bans. Steel rebuilt his reputation over the next 5-6 years but was still unable to compete in any Valve sponsored events. Most of the community felt that a lifetime ban was absolutely ridiculous and feel that the players have served a well beyond fair punishment.

oh. i guess i misunderstood then. i thought all these bans were a result of unfair practises in a event. like how forsaken was caught cheating in a big league. didn't know they made a big deal of cheating in friendly games

Tenz was never good to begin with, he was a promising young player with great aim but eventually C9 hired him and he did terribly. He then switched to content creating in CS then Valorant before joining their roster for Valorant and then being signed by Sentinels.
Scream used to be good but was past peak, he was probably top 10 from 2013-2016. But fell of pretty hard and only had good aim.

Nivera is the only very good player who switched over in their peak that I can remember.

https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/HLTV/Top_20_Players
This is probably the closest you can get, it only covers the top 20 so a lot of Valorant players won't be included.
You could search for individual players on liquipedia if you want a rough idea on what teams they were on.

Players now a days are a lot better than they were back in 2013, but I suppose so. Hiko is a very old man. There was some hype about Ethan switching over, but I never really paid attention because I'm not American

With Vanguard, it's ridiculously hard to cheat in Valorant, and honestly, it'd probably take less time to become a legitimate pro player than to create an aimbot for Valorant.

I guess the (new) personality of these people matter a lot, ShahZaM was also part of the matchfixing scandal, but he's a chill guy and good at the game so everyone kinda forgot about that.

Whereas steel is steel, with his risky takes on some subjects and the fact that he isn't scared of screaming out loud what he thinks
Obviously steel gets more hate on a daily because of that, even though he's talented

It's not that hard tbh. CS has a long history so cheats were invented starting from 1.6 times (2000s) if not earlier. Since there was always a demand from the community there are insane amount of cheats developers who make a lot of money from it. The real reason why CS has and most likely will always have more cheats than Valorant is that CS cheats are always in demand from most retarded part of the community and there are a lot of developers who are making easiest money in their lives

I disapprove of Marved. He was 100% match fixing and got away with it whilst not admitting to it (to my knowledge). I haven't heard much about shanks, although that's probably because I don't pay much attention to NA.
