VAL will NEVER Have GOAT

I've been thinking about this recently, especially seeing all the posts made about GOATS and the best players. I do not believe VAL will ever have a clear GOAT.

CS has Simple, maybe Zywoo if you want to argue.

League has Faker

COD has Scump or Crim

But I don't think its possible to have a GOAT in Val. The game itself changes way too much for there to be a singular GOAT.

In other games, while new content may be added, the meta doesn't really change. It's pretty cut and dry.

For example, CS rarely makes any weapon balances and rarely adds maps. The pros compete in pure gunplay skill.

In League, while new champs do get added, individual skill doesn't translate as well. It heavily leans to team cohesion and taking good team fights. Yes that is easier if you have individual skill etc.

I just don't think there will ever a long-term goat in Valorant. You can say Tenz for 2021. You can say Yay for 2022. You can say Demon1 for 2023. Or just say Aspas for everything. But these are all periods. Different metas, different games. The GOAT in Valorant has to be periodic. All it takes is one agent nerf to lose your "GOAT status." The closest so far I believe is Aspas. He has been the most consistent across all metas and agents.

i think if franchising never happened there would be that 1 guy everyone considered a goat

but for now we have aspas which is good enough and also if u cant thrive in different metas ur just not a world class player

Maybe, but I just think its too much to ask a player to have the widest pool of agents. So many players fall off and rise each season due to new agents and metas. It's difficult to excel with EVERY agent.

agreed but no one needs to excel at 1 agent, the players who did all fell off (tenz, demon1 and yay), and thats why players such as aspas, derke or even chron is considered to have goat status.

its actually embarrassing that a meta change can invalidate a players skill set in a second lol and with cs being bigger and having way more history, its easier to compare players to each other.

Aspas the one and only true GOAT of Valorant.

Chronicle is the GOAT of val because he has 3 trophies

i like chronicle, but he's not really dominant individually. he's a great player who played on a lot of good teams.

He might be considered the GOAT in 21/23, but again these are periods. Can you really say he's the GOAT across ALL of Valorant. This just goes back to my point of the game having periodic GOATs, not clear overall ones.

What I think makes someone the GOAT, is their performance over the years. S1mple has been playing since early 2010s and is still really good. Fakers been playing since 2013 and won worlds 12 years apart. If yay or aspas turns around and wins champs again in another year, then that would be my decision process

The VAL esports scene and the game itself might just be too young to make comments like I did, but I don't think anything will change. This ecosystem is too volatile and unstable, teams don't stick together, agent metas and maps shift too often for there to be a clear GOAT. Who knows, Yay might not even be on a team next year.

That's a hot take, I would honestly not have an issue with that if NIP didn't choke so many finals in those early years.
