not rally a hot take
it's arguably the most important match of a run, it would make sense.
But I'm not sure you wanna see 5 maps before the top 3 deciders

meh, it doesnt really matter as both teams in Upper Finals qualify to Toronto. Upper Semis are the real qualification games so in theory those are the most important of Stage 1 playoffs. Upper semis and lower round 3 -> lower finals

I was mostly considering internationals, didn't even think about regionals tournaments tbh

I think the reason why riot doesn't do that is because usually the upper finals takes place on the same of one of the lower bracket matches. So fitting a bo5 with another series in the same day wouldn't work. Unless you change the scheduling, which I guess could work.

i agree, there is way too much at stake for it just to be a bo3, literal 2 map bans + you get a day rest is alot

The problem with this would be that it would punish the team that loses upper finals too much, because the team they face in lower finals would have only played at most 3 maps, while the team who lost upper finals could have played 5 maps, you would have to give the team that lost upper finals something like a 2 map ban for the lower finals for it to be fair.
