Most newly formed teams that qualify for events but can't get close to winning it give up by the end of the year since they know they won't be playing with the same people again. Also I have seen pros talking about adjusting to meta before the events. Champs is similar to every other event in that fashion, the team that can adjust are favourites to win it, what seperates the winner is luck and the format.
Champs is not CS Major level event when it comes to importance for these pros, I haven't seen S1mple/Karrigan/Niko levels of desperation from these Val pros when it comes to winning champs.
Maybe the hype and prize pool makes it special but practically its literally still not far away from Masters.
I mean he is right, valorant champions are just like masters with just more money. The rest is the same. Champs cannot be compared to superbowl, or cs major, the gab between valorant esport and cs is huge. But that's fair, the scene is still "new", maybe in the next couple of years it will be huge like LOL, but now, Valorant champions, are just masters with more players and more money.
