Truth About Cuisines

All this discourse about food is honestly strange. The reality is that everyone has different palates and preferences, so we should stop criticizing each other for certain opinions.

For example, the entire situation on VLR was seemingly sparked by someone who believes that Japanese food is overrated. I too hold the belief that Japanese is severely overrated, even with a vast experience of exotic meals, a tendency to never be picky, and a strong background in the cuisine. While at first the sentiments were based around the necessity for individuals to truly experience the cuisine before commenting on it, which I completely agree on, it gets to a certain point when the argument evolves into pure criticism. How can we be so sure of ourselves all of a sudden when someone has a conflicting viewpoint?

At the end of the day, we should allow each other to freely discuss without immediately accusing others of not being knowledgeable enough. Let's put a stop to all of this hatred, please.

I agree and hopefully you aren’t targeted for it. People need to realize others are entitled to their own opinions.

I strongly desagree with you, thats thanks to clash of idea, debate and everything, human species is able to do amazing things.
Sure his argument is poor, but thats not because he doesnt master the art of constructive debate that we should stop debate about thing.
Even more, debate allow us to understand each other more, maybe we will not find a common conclusion, but if we listen enough we will understand better the taste of the other and have a better understand of the world !

I agree debate is crucial to society. However, as I‘ve said, it becomes harmful when you are unable to accept the opinions of others. How can we assume the worst just because someone elses opinion doesn‘t align with our own agenda? I do understand that this is VLR. Nothing is particularly professional or serious on here. But we have to ask how should we conduct ourselves in order to gain a sense of the constructive debate you propose?

Then the problem is more people that cant accept opinion more than the debate itself I think ^^

And sometime I manage to have constructive things on vlr, they are still a hope in it

Arguing about cuisine is fun when it doesn't devolve into vaguely or overtly racist attacks.

Fair enough. That comment was definitely inviting criticism. I should‘ve mentioned the other large food related thread which is where I originally got my idea for this post.
