Why are Chinese team playing the evolution tournament thing. Won’t playing in it will leak their strats for Bangkok? I am just confused.

It would be quiet the opposite no? It's more like Riot is china's or tencent's kid who turned 18 so stays away from home and can make majority of the decisions outside the home but still is supported by tencent and can't make any decisions about it's home that is china.
Also I heard china valo isn't controlled by riot so riot can't be blamed for anything that happens in china.

Not only do they get an entire "international" league for one country, they get an exclusive in season tourney for their teams to play in. Crazy.

Nvm I was partially wrong ig. Val cn is managed by tj sports which is basically a joint venture between tencent and riotgames. Ig tencent just wants to be more heavily involved in china val. So to control the china scene they cooperated with riot games where main decisions are probably made by them while riot does the normal operations.
trikecycle [#6]yeah its weird they're making wolves play right before they go to Bangkok you're right WOLVESWIN
WE'VE CONQUERED ALL OF CHINA WE'RE NEVER GONNA STOP FROM BANGKOK TO PARIS WE'LL WIN THE FUCKING LOT

TJ Sports is basically Tencent's esports arm specifically with Riot. They've been handling anything esports related for Riot since LPL and their League of Legends OPS, so it was natural for them to transfer along once VCT CN is established. This isn't a new thing.
Evolution Series was also how they've gotten the first VCT CN Ascension team (DRG), and this is a continuation of it, albeit in a different form.
