Sliggy and other analyzers says Pacific have lower ceiling than other regions.
Is this truth?
I mean they say that last year also.
tserc [#2]Pacific mostly focuses on fast paced gameplay (thx to teams like PRX), but since the SEA and JP teams are heavily underperforming rn, the ceiling of Pacific suddenly dropped
I don't think either of them are underperforming. current meta favor mostly exec teams after tejo released. mostly korean teams.
I trust sliggy's judgement bc he watches every game. I tend to agree just due to the lack of high level mid-rounding IGL's. Outside of munchkin/geng's success, there hasn't been one and I'm a firm believer in that is how you win, set/fast strats only get you so far.
I haven't watched every game, but Geng/PRX seem to be playing at a lower level. However, the bottom of the pack has leveled up so the average of the region got stronger, just not the top teams in pacific. This is my "gold level" take

You are mostly correct. but i don't think munchkin call all the mid rounding by now watching Geng and t1. meteor done some good work on that too.
Agree that Geng played lower level. To say that to prx, I need to watch some more matches. because sometime they play that way😂.

Yeah geng lost alot with meteor's aggressive lurks, and lakia's impact is very similar to sacy's, alot of midrounding and good util. I thought yoman would help makeup for that loss (Lakia) but its probably too early to be that harsh on them.
merciless-pity8989-89 [#4]gen g weren’t rated that high last year either. ppl forget that comparing emea and amer teams to pacific will always be difficult because you won’t really know if they can handle than playstyle well.
people immediately changed their mind on geng after kickoff though. This year just aint it. The games arent great
AvgRossiFan [#10]EU/NA analysts will always rate Pacific a bit lower because this style doesn't fit in their vision of the game which is more tactical and "textbook" valorant
How is apac playstyle not tactical? Do you even watch the kr teams games? Bro thinks every apac team is like prx.

Don't you mean the floor of Pacific dropped since we are talking about underperforming teams? the ceiling still looks fine with KR teams doing good
Congo1 [#11]people immediately changed their mind on geng after kickoff though. This year just aint it. The games arent great
yeah, that’s because they came top 2 at madrid, we will see what happens at bangkok. You can never really rate apac teams based on how they play against each other bc it’s just a whole different playstyle.
Congo1 [#11]people immediately changed their mind on geng after kickoff though. This year just aint it. The games arent great
Not true. Geng had to claw their way through pacific kickoff and only after masters did people take them seriously. And they only beat the fluke allegations after winning masters 2
Kyronnn [#13]Don't you mean the floor of Pacific dropped since we are talking about underperforming teams? the ceiling still looks fine with KR teams doing good
every analyst thinks its the top teams PRX, GenG, T1, Drx who arent as good as they should be. If anything the middle of the pack/bottom improved a bit.
Ullyr [#14]I mean i feel like sliggy one of the few people that watch a little of all the regions. So probably is right in that style wise pacific seem to devolved more into fast pace aggression. Lots of aim duels.
Well he watches all the games from every region unless Pacific and China overlaps, which he then prioritizes Pacific.

I think you can make an argument for both, but it's probably ceiling being lowered first.
Floor MIGHT be lowered because of what you said -- the average APAC teams underperforming, especially with current meta. The thing is we can't really check... they may have improved relative to other regions but the same teams qualify to intl's every time so we can't know for sure.
Ceiling is definitely lowered because the most consistently good teams (namely DRX and PRX) have gone from being considered a favorite every tournament to being more dark-horse picks. And while GenG has improved drastically they aren't as dominant as they probably should be (and also they have really bad showings sometimes... GenG was a Champs favorite that got grouped, that's never a good look)

I'm not saying the floor lowered. I was saying that based on his statement he should have said that the floor was lowered since if bad teams are playing worse then the floor is lowered. I don't watch enough APAC to know fully what the state is of the floor but DRX is looking nice, I could see them doing good in Bangkok

when i watch sliggy, he can tell how exactly what strat is playing in specific rounds for emea. if he said this player will be need to do this in mid rounding to win that round, that specific player will do that in next few seconds in emea. but if he do the same to pacific it become like a plot twist and player doing what exactly opposite what sliggy say need to do next.
as your point, korean teams do lot of exec plays but they are also like sea teams. they are also like to take a aim duels sometimes without any utility. ex: munchkin, meteor last year take lot of aim duels without any utility. they won lot of aim duels that's why they won. also example edg nobody.
