It wasn't necessarily just to keep Meteor

It was that they didn't have enough money to give every single player a better offer than all the other teams that were trying to poach them so they had to make choices on who to give raises to and who to let get bought out

well yes but its not as bad as people make it seem. t1 is the highest paid roster in valorant so its understandable they could only resign 3 of their star players

GenG Arnold talks about player value about keeping/allowing players to leave in spike talk. Munchkin was asking huge pay rise and since GenG only ever give 1 year contract, they have to re-sign 3/4 players + sign replacement. Meteor just happen to be player leave to another org while Lakia left.
