for those wondering why, chinese league is mostly bottom feeders with the exception of EDG and Trace, south american talent is not getting picked up (Lev is an all NA roster this year) and the visa issues are fucking the south american teams to the point where they just don't have equal chances as the NA teams anymore

In Chinas -1st year they made top 5/6 at 2 intl events in a row

not to mention south american teams like KRU have made almost every international, Loud literally was the best team in 2022 and won champs, got to the lock in grand finals, and placed top 3 at champs in 2023 as well LEV this year made a top 3 finish at champs too

however, this will most likely not happen anymore and continuously decline as south american visas are harder to get, players not wanting to relocate to LA, and orgs move to sign north american talent instead of developing south american talent

Except SA talent has been the best its ever been. So much talent there with so many stuck in t2 because of age-if anything the NA t2 scene is struggling with majority of its players being washed pros and a team made up of ranked players with 0 prac or strats winning their last event

I agree SA deserve more repersentation-but it shouldnt be from china. Lets get rid of EMEA

the reason i said to cut china is because i dont realistically know how a 5 team league would work and china just feels like such a gimicky league. maybe expanding the total amount of teams in the leagues to give china a few slots in pacific could work, but it just feels like as of now south america is going to continue to decline, even if the talent is 'good' right now its not translating to orgs signing them

China has made more playoffs than south america (including the lev which is not a full south american team) from 2023 onwards (I dont count 2022 and below as no chinese team besides edg was even allowed to qualify for those events)

I don't think chinese league should be done away with but at the same time I feel SA league should definitely exist especially when we switch to semi-open system.

As for China I have 2 solution since they are atleast not yet capable of creating 12 Tier 1 teams -

Increase the import in Chinese league from 1 to 2 as it is in their Ascension, this will solve the problem of ascension team having to drop one of their players nd will also increase competitiveness while giving some deserving pros chance to play in Tier 1.
Create 2 Asia-Pacific leagues with China getting 6 slots and rest 6 being taken by let's say Japan nd South Korea. This allows more rep to Korea nd Japan while still holding onto fanbase of China. Rest of Asia will share rest 12 slots which will in turn allow a Vietnam nd Oce representation in Tier 1.

Chinese govt also wants more control, that's why they get their own client and part of why they get their own league. Riot will do what they want because it's such an enormous revenue stream. Chinese viewership is probably subsidizing other regions to some extent.
