With the US act, “Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act” going in effect last March with Tiktok being its first victim being banned in 5 days time-I wanted to ask everyones thoughts on how this may effect Valorant. For those that dont know this Act "prohibits distributing, maintaining, or providing internet hosting services for a foreign adversary controlled application" This includes Video Games. Valorant-while owned by a US based company in Riot is not safe from this as Riot themselves are owned by the Chinese company Tencent (who also own/have major stock in companies such as Ubisoft, Epic Games, Discord, Roblox and MANY many more linked here ). Now what makes this relevant today is this statement by the US defense department stating that Tencent has ties to the Chinese military
Now I dont want to start a political debate since I think this is already pushing the boundries of the no politics rule on this site-however I want to open a discusion on what people think the future of Valorant is if the US truly do intend to ban it from the US.
(also sorry if this does close the no politics rule-I thought that since it releated so much to Valorant it deserved to be shown-as a polisci major I do like talking about these sorts of stuff)
