koi4444444 [#2]How did next gen not make playoffs they won more rounds isn't that the tiebreaker?
It's h2h before tiebreaker for some fucking reason
koi4444444 [#2]How did next gen not make playoffs they won more rounds isn't that the tiebreaker?
CGZ beat next gen in groups so the former went through to playoffs I guess

no its h2h first because it's stupid
sweetpotatofries [#8]it's unlucky really but it's the rule in a two way tie
Yeah but who tf said that this would be a good idea?
IonlywatchvcjXD [#9]The rules are there from the start, it's not as if TOs intentionally trying to sabotage next gen by changing the rules midway.
It's a fucking terrible rule regardless of when they made it how tf you putting h2h first on round robin
Let me make it clear
Before the game at 10:30am GMT+7, i already asking to referee about the tiebreaker and he said:
Two-way tie
Three-way tie

- Head-to-head Match Score
- Head-to-head Round differential
- Round differential
Three-way tie
- Head-to-head Match Series (CGZ win H2H vs RVL&NXG)
Teams with two matchup head-to-head advantage automatically receives first of the group. Tie-breakers for the remaining two teams are determined using the above head-to-head tiebreaker process.
If no team has a two matchup head-to-head advantage (in example, all Teams are 1-1 head-to-head), then proceed to next step of the 3-way tie-breaker process.- Round differential
- Tiebreaker Bo1 match
we already know about the rule we're just saying it's a shit rule

We know but this is bullshit
koi4444444 [#10]Yeah but who tf said that this would be a good idea?
It's been always like this in every sport not just in valorant and tbh it's fair cause if you win a game against a team then you should have some advantage over that team

At Liquipedia, CGZ already had green mark as winner of group A before round 3 (TS vs CGZ & NXG vs RVL) begin
targuin [#19]Im a bit confused why people are upset at it being h2h
This is how we always do it in valorant for 2 way tiesI cant think of a single tourney where we had maps or round diff as the first tiebreaker
ppl just want to start drama
Idk how people here are not doing basic maths and understanding that head2head to decide best team to qualify from a grp in a 4 team bo1 tournament is not the right way, its flawed.
Not to forget that this rule kills excitement as group can get over as early as in 4 match in a 6 match grp while round differential means more often than not even last match would matter.
Now the maths in a group of 4 where only a single team will move ahead will never have a tie-breaker where both teams havent lost a single match . Both teams would always end up with 2-1 for the tie-breaker.
Now let's suppose Team A and Team B are tied at 2-1 and Team A has beaten Team B and hence according to H2h they qualify for next round and Team B is eliminated. But bcz Team B lost to team A it is given that they definitely beat Team C and Team D one of which in turn definitely beat Team A thus putting them at 2-1.
So by what logic is Team A a better team just bcz they beat tied team B when team B was able to beat a team which was capable of beating so called the best team of group i.e Team A. Its very clear that both teams are on equal footing and only fair way to separate them is by seeing what's the final round differential since every team played the same 3 teams and hence overall faced the same difficulty so whoever took more rounds in total - round lost is objectively the best team in the group.
