Asphyxia [#41]
In the esports community in general. It's more often that women just become streamers than pro players, because there's already heavy misogyny and there's a heavy feeling that women just straight up can't be pro players.
I think riot want to incentivize women actually going for esports, so that there can be actual female talent, since there was no infrastructure to encourage women to take playing professionally over streaming. And the reason why Gamechangers exists is actually your reason. Women don't have any disadvantage physically. They can do the same shit. But there's a heavy idea that women straight up can't become pro players. Like even in other games. Female pro players go through some pretty insane shit. And it's not seen as a good career path for women either in the community. If riot can make this happen. Integration will happen. But this is just a way to make women see pro play as a viable career path so that the talent pool can get much larger.
Well, if they wanted to break barriers, this era is ripe for taking. There are no stopping females from being goated in eSport titles, whatever advantages men have on eSports can now be compensated by good technology. Its really all about their willingness and mentality to compete, fuck misogyny.
