valorant is horrible

I think it's wild how nearly 4+ years after release, the game still lacks basic features that other games COME OUT with and barely anyone talks about them aside from the replay system

  • no replay system, deadlock is in closed beta and it already has a replay system
  • no customization whatsoever, players can't make their own maps or game modes or anything such which is a basic feature in most big games these days
  • the range is laughably bad and it's amazing how you can't get in it while in queue, another extremely basic feature
  • the shop prices are ridiculous, if you play any other game like overwatch you'd see the community complaining about $20 skins, meanwhile val releases skins for $35+ continuously and people buy it. this is as much an issue with the playerbase as the company tbf. I'll also mention the continuously decreasing quality of skins released and lack of originality.
  • they take years to do anything meta changing, and I don't think vct going on is a justification for this (in previous years their changes in the off season ended up negatively impacting it in any case). other live action hero shooters get far more frequent and impactful updates while valorant barely changes.

for the last point I'll say I like the dev's balance changes in general but they're too slow, I don't think it should be taking this long to make a good balance change.

really liked those updates in siege, and ubi's earthbreaking idea of '' if it's fun, it's broken''

Ur not wrong but in a competitive prespective it is pretty successful for normal players even it is lacking some features that other competitive games have (Eg. Agent ban idk if that counts). Valorant has been enjoying for myself personally because the meta isnt too crazy in comp maybe a few agents are getting out of hand but you still have ways to counter them.

you already know a replay system is in development - riot sucks at it but they are trying, don't compare valves experience ( which is funny to mention when you think about how they abandoned tf2 and have been doing the same to CS, well atleast they updated the engine) and resources to riot, its like comparing a man to a baby. netcode and spaghetti code have always been riots struggles.

valorant is purely a competitive game and was made to be one - you already know riots stance on community maps

u shoot bots at a range bro idk how much better you can make that other than playing it in queue

shop prices arent a problem, they are cosmetics at the end of the day. overwatch has bigger problems than skins and theyd complain about anything (also this is because skins used to be attainable without paying because of lootboxes, I doubt they would complain if overwatch had always been like that instead of going down a micro-transaction rabbithole and selling out)

meta changes often enough, idk what kind of live action hero shooters that get more updates metawise and have a healthy pro and casual community, cause ik it isnt rainbow, overwatch, or apex.

  • basically almost all of these points you can say for LoL (and its not dead, people call it horrible but you know they love the game)
TLDR: its not a valorant problem, this is just how Riot likes to function

you take how polished and constantly updated this game is massively for granted.

after playing cod titles mainly for 5 years prior to playing val seeing people like you complain about the most rudimentary stuff actually makes me sad.

be grateful this game gets as much attention as it does from the devs, that it has one of the best anticheats out there (yeah it has its problems but its still more functional than other games).

this game is a competitive game not a content game, i think people also forget that.

I don't think being better maintained than fucking cod is an achievement 😭also it's funny you say it's a competitive game not a content game (which is true from a design perspective) when the community is notorious for being full of edaters and making cringe content

I don't know much about coding but I find it hard to believe that a company with their size would take this long to develop a replay system if they really wanted to

What does being competitive have to do with having community maps? it does no harm to the game and might attract a larger player base who would likely also play comp

I agree idrc about shop prices tbh, I see people complaining about it in most games so I brought it up but since it's purely cosmetic it isn't really an issue

my wording was unclear on the range I meant that it's laughably bad because you can't use it in queue. though I think they could add a few features that'll improve it but it's no big deal as it is

also I don't think these points will make the game "die", the title is mainly clickbait (and doesn't say that). I think it'll continue to grow but it could be even better if the community was more vocal about some of these things. riot said they're working on a replay system only when the whole community began demanding for it.
