VCT vs LoL esports

Do you think VCT will ever be bigger than LoL esports? If so in how long? (Excluding CN)
(non CN) The worlds finals had 6.95M peak viewers whereas VALs peak viewers (Madrid finals) was at 1.7M

Considering that Val has only been out for 4 years, 25% of League's peak is pretty good. But how much is that going to grow?

tbh I wouldn't count on it. What I've heard from people who play CS is that in general things are improving, there's way less cheaters in ranked and in general it seems like they're doing more updates. The gunplay is still inferior to CS:GO but if things continue on their current trends I can see them fixing that

You also needs to be aware of strinova, that game can easily attracts japanese players away from valorant

I think people's tastes are also changing, and the long-term development of MOBA games has made audiences more inclined to watch replay-cut after the game.At least in China, the audience for LOL is decreasing, with only some famous teams showing improvement. On the other hand, the audience for FPS games is increasing, such as FGC, which surprisingly has 30% of the championship match audience.Just like how I invited many newgamers to play games and watch matches, they found TTK matches more attractive than MOBA.

I think it has the potential to be because it’s more global. Regions are a lot more even and it feels like it’s stronger in more countries

Not unless they keep overpowering then nerfing agents way too often . Valorant shouldn't be fortnite .

val will grow, but so will LoL, i dont see valorant overtaking LoL as long as we dont have the same faker type lores and more popular artists colabs

I agree that the regions are more global and it defo does have the potential.
What league does so well is make storylines with its players, I think it would really help the Val scene if they focused a bit more on the players and less on the game I talked a bit more about it here

League has over a decade of history, it’s much easier to create narratives, give it time. Also another factor is that Valorant it’s easier to understand for an outsider so attracting new players is easier

But yeah LOL is insanely big, we are not anywhere close as of now

tbh I don't think this on it's own is something that could kill viewership

But what I think could threaten it is if there's too many agents and the game becomes too complex for the average casual player to understand. I think the only reason League got away with it is because they've had almost 15 years to build a loyal audience (Being one of the first major esports also really helped), and as a casual viewer it's a much easier game to watch if you don't know the champions imo (comparing it to the impact of agents)

?
The LCS is dead they were forced to merge with the CBLOL to maintain viewership
The LEC is going down (KC/MAD + Caedrel carry the viewership otherwise it would be dead compared to last years)
The LPL will have a big purge with salary cap + most teams have money problems due to bad gestion/less interest by Chinese fans because t teams no longer win internationally

and lol playerbase is no longer renewed as it was there are fewer and fewer new talents (in Europe especially)

icl I preferred league esports over valo, like I have not played a single game of league so I didn't understand jackshit about any champions in that game but I understood the basic idea of lane control + economy management. idk why but comebacks in league feel so much more hype than in valo (or I guess FPS shooters in general).

But I think valorant might become more interesting when they add more agents and eventually introduce agent bans so we can see more variety in the comps the teams run instead of seeing the same fucking comp on ascent for the 100th time. I doubt it'll take over lol esports tho.

FPS always has a lot of new games coming out every year, while MOBA cannot do the same. Noone wants to play new MOBA.

I wonder what's going to happen to vanguard and the overall val cheating scene when MIcrosoft bans kernel level software. if this ever happens GG val is cooked

t1 winning this year genuinely mightve killed league. lpl funding minus ig is pretty much all gone cuz everyone believes china is cooked and the big korean names are leaving. icl eventually faker winning everything gets boring like how u gonna write a story line about a guy winning his 20th worlds title. the other regions geniunely dont really matter apart from lpl and lck ngl.

they are considering it after the recent crowdstrike incident. imagine all of you being unable to even open your pc because some dev over at riot fucked with vanguard (I only watch val)

It's very very unlikely they ban it, it's this rumour that sort of stretches the truth from mainly one article on some random site.

What they want to do is to provide more solutions which may be used as an alternative to the kernel
