Pretty stupid criteria for an award meant to be given to the player who performed best over the last year.

That criteria was only made bc they wanted to find a way for Journalists to justify their bias towards or against players and teams.

Mind you, 2 of rodri’s teammates were nominated as PL player of the season over him. And it’s also a consensus that he barely cracks as a top 3 player on his own club.

your problem is that you don’t understand that attackers need a good system to play well, while midfielders don’t, because them along with the managers make up the system in order for the attackers to thrive. The system involves a type of play style which is very effective like Spain’s and City’s. However, the system alone is not the reason for success, a system without good attackers is useless. Rodri just happened to have some of the best itw, and bc of that ppl all of a sudden thinks he all that special.
