with yay signing to EG it makes me wonder if hypothetically EG managed to convince yay to join in 2023 instead of joining c9, with the roster being Ethan, Boostio, Jawgemo, C0M and yay, do they reach the same levels? imo yes because yay on c9 was still very good and comparable to demon1

like for example think of the times Demon1 trash talked which caused a morale boost for the team. I just don't see yay doing something like that to nearly the same extent

i think having by far the best player itw would give them a confidence boost (remember 2022 yay was like prime Lebron with the rest of the leauge being college players)

Winning is the most important, and with yay they couldnt win
no, and even though i love yay, theres a couple reasons:
- yay didn't have as much to prove as demon1. together with the rest of that roster, EG had everything to prove as all the odds were against them. however, if yay was in the roster, then EG wouldn't have had that drive because yay at the time was the most decorated player of all time
- 2023-24 yay had a really bad mental. yay has a very high standard for himself (a collective problem for ex-optic players) and playing at the very top for two years straight would have befuddled his mental state. pre-demon1 era EG was really just not good, and although the team became one of the best of all time throughout the year, at the beginning, after losing some games, yay's mental would have been shit, which would cause him to tilt. currently he's got a good mental after he started hitting the gym and took time for himself, but in 2023, it wouldn't have gone so well.
