Small franchising rant

This system sucks BUT can be fixed so easily by just making the bottom to two teams of each region relegated/put into ascension. Like be so fucking fr why are GE still here? no offense to the players but a roster of polvi benkai blazeking russ and lightningfast was not winning SHIT ALL this year especially when you had monyet and texture the year prior, it's obvious they weren't trying to either. I understand India brings a massive fan base but even their own fans are starting to turn on this org. Either sign a GOOD south Asian roster to make the fans happy or sign a roster that's gonna be competitive. The fact that riot is just turning a blind eye to this as well is just so frustrating hopefully when the initial contracts end with the original teams SOMETHING changes.

Teams can change. Look at the difference between 2023 TH, SEN, GEN.G and now look at them in 2024.

I've seen this counterargument, but the counterargument to this is basically the same thing. Teams can change. Would they have done more risky moves to try and stay in franchising?

I do understand the idea though.

I agree 100% but the last year Geng roster was at least competitive on paper same with sentinels but they just fell apart. My argument is that teams like GE and mibr are just never going to be exciting to us and their own fans but I hope they prove me wrong next year idk

GE going in last is the least of Riot's concern when it's so hard to get any of these orgs to be proactive...

Also relegation is out of the question unless you want teams to leave the partnership

That's why I think franchising sucks, once teams are accepted into it they can just do whatever they want and not receive any punishment. I saw it happen throughout the entire existence of the OWL and I feel it'll happen here too

Zeta really is goated, unlike some other orgs, once in francshising they instead go so far to field 10 academy players and are announcing for 2025 application

The leagues operate in a closed membership system and do not have promotion and relegation. It is organized in a way that assures the teams' continued existence in the league from year to year. On occasion a league may decide to grow by admitting a new expansion team into the league
you introducing relegation kills the entire purpose of franchising and thus makes vct just a leauge

Riot need sustainability, franchising makes the scene stable money wise, at the cost of competitiveness

at the cost of competitiveness

This can be fixed by riot actually telling orgs to clean up their mess tbh

That’s literally all they have to do, which is why I was excited when they said they were going to reevaluate some teams but I guess not

They will do it for 2027, a bit late but it will happen. The fake news is that they will only reevaluate Mibr and GE, the truth is they are going to reevaluate every org.
