RIOT is stupidly short-sighted for neglecting T2

Why are they seemingly putting so little effort into producing and promoting Ascension? T1 can't stand without T2 below it. Do they expect good rookies to just appear out of thin air? Or do they want endless recycling and paycheck stealing like the 30k viewer LCS? The uncomfortable fact is, you need to spend significant money to make playing T2/3 financially viable for Radiant teenagers in order for a young esport to eventually become self-sustaining, like watering a plant.

They just don't care about us
All they want is money and their big fanbase franchise teams
Like we get it we don't have money or fans. Don't have to prove it through every fucking decision they make

at the end of the day, riot is a business

they need to care about franchising and really the only reason to run esports is for money, otherwise it does nothing but burn the pockets of the people in the company

they do put money into tier 2, although I do agree it isnt enough and they should look to slim down the amount of leagues across EMEA and Pacific, and also promote it more on social media, but at the end of the day theyre a business and they have to think about their way to make money and tier 2 isnt the way theyre going to make that money

Agreed tbh, riot put money into esports knowing that they'll lose them, but I think the losses are so bad that riot can't even justify risking all of that.

they should probably try going the CS route and outsource events for TOs.

i think its mostly that riot want full control of the brand they make to make sure they can continue to have sponsors, if a TO fucks up and it becomes a big story, sponsors wont want to be involved with valorant anymore

how can a TO possibly fuck up that bad?

its definitely rare but seemingly ok people can just snap and ruin the look of their brand along with anyone associated with them, look at twitter and what it did to tesla stocks

I just feel like vct will inevitably cuck itself out of talent. The biggest failure vct can suffer long term is that the tier 2 talent it has stolen from CS will just migrate back.

I do feel like there are some TOs that can be worked with to avoid that, I wish riot worked with ESL but they probably wont

there definitely is a chance that talent runs dry but at the same time young talent each year is getting better and proving itself in franchising, look at start of year KC, Karon on Gen.G, TH roster. Orgs are going to start taking punts at the younger players and hoping for crazy results in that way and I feel like that will be pretty good for the scene, especially when more teams are actually added to franchising and more slots are opened up on those weaker teams

I just feel like it will turn into a hot seat. Bad in one season? Out and never coming back because your rep is fucked. This is the exact reason tenz left from cs, he had one good shot at proving himself, wasn't good enough, got kicked and then never came back to tier 1

I think they did. (Or I'm misunderstanding things)

TOs in Japan are being held by RAGE. I read somewhere in their description (might have to relook at this later) they only handle the equipment ,streaming, etc. While server(?), and competition still being handled by riot.

I meant just letting blast and esl in. It saves a lot of cash and makes the schedule more solid

I think RAGE is already good enough for japan( they are the TO to go to in japan for a reason after all),

Also kudos to kohei(head of riot jp) although I gave him a lot of shit, he really knows how to get people to watch the game

I don’t know much about riot’s stances or could I careless to do the research rn but esl probably won’t make the cut because of their deal with Saudi Arabia however since the ewc wants valorant to be an event they might let it slide

Riot have been at the ESports awards hosted by EWC and LoL was at EWC, I am sure they will manage working with esl

I just don't like the structure. This closed circuit is the exact reason most pros left TO valorant, now they have to suffer this shit again. What's the point for M80 valo roster to stick around if they lose ascension for the 3rd year now if they can just transition to CS with an open circuit?

Koalanoonb already said on his stream that if they don’t make it this year that most of them including himself will take any t1 offer they get

and what if the managements in tier 1 will just ditch them after one season ( not even due to their faults)

I just don't like the look of it. It literally looks like F1. nepotists stay, real talent has to be perfect from the Get-Go or they get sent away forever.
