In a shocking turn of events, sources have confirmed that Paper Rex (PRX) higher-ups are dissatisfied with the team’s recent performance, pushing for significant roster changes. Despite the players' firm opposition to any such move, it appears the upper management’s decision is final. As a result, PRX has made the difficult and controversial decision to part ways with their star player Something and reinstate their former in-game leader (IGL) Benkai.
This change marks a return to the roster that once brought PRX considerable success under Benkai's leadership. The team achieved a 4th place finish at Masters Reykjavik 2022, followed by a runner-up placement at Masters Copenhagen 2022. However, their performance dipped with an 8th-12th finish at Champions Istanbul 2022, and most recently, a disappointing 16-32nd finish at LOCK//IN 2023.
While the decision to cut Something—a star known for his explosive plays—has raised eyebrows within the Valorant community, PRX management believes that bringing back Benkai will restore the team’s former glory.
The revamped roster is as follows:
Alecks: Head Coach
Jinggg: Duelist (will now play Duelist full-time, including Jett)
Davai: Flex
Benkai: IGL/Initiator
Mindfreak: Smokes
Forsaken: Sentinel (now on full-time Sentinel duty)
This return to their roots has divided the fanbase, with some hopeful that Benkai’s leadership will steer PRX back to the top, while others lament the loss of Something, whose potential seemed limitless. Only time will tell if this gamble will pay off for Paper Rex or if it will leave them regretting this bold move.
