people were saying that about yay in 2022, demon1 in 2023, now kangkang.. I think you guys need to understand that peak != being the goat. Im not hating on the guy, on the contrary he played insane this tournament but you seem to forget that they played rather poorly in madrid + shanghai

The thread isn't about EDG, it's about KangKang. Shit coaching, a playstyle that didn't suit them and a lack of understanding of the current meta (chinese valorant cant win trophies, they adapted their playstyle to be more team oriented) made them fail against LOUD and in Shanghai. KangKang has never been the problem. He's played his ass off even when the team failed. His stats have been insane throughout his career. He's definitely one of the best players val has ever seen. I wouldn't put him top 5 but he deserves respect.

KangKang has been playing at a high level for much longer than people we all considered GOATs of valorant (with the exception of guys like chronicle and aspas of course).

the thing was, they came out of nowhere, peaked, and then fell into obscurity right after winning, whereas EDG has been grinding for at least 3 years now, hard to see that kinda team fell off immediately (y0y can't do anything without busted chamber lol)

Yay did NOT came out of nowhere, he was putting numbers in masters Reykjavic 2021 as Jett (his highest stat btw) and even in C9 he was shooting hard. C9 was the one who fucked up his career, kicking him out bc they had no money (who doesnt account for this when making a contract?) and as for demon1 I kinda agree? But the moment he came to EG they started shooting. As for KK he was also like that last year. He peaked at tokyo with his unexpected op performance and fell into obscurity for almost a whole year, only showed up now, peaking at the right time.

Then what you do when the players that are the goat for majority of people (aspas or chronicle) never reached that level of peak that yay had in 2022, demon1 in 2023 and kangkang had now? I'm taking peak perfomances over consistency any time. Peak win your team trophies, consistency doesnt.
