if he's getting a non gaming laptop then he won't even need a cooling pad, they don't get hot at all

macbook

unironically yes lol
the older macbook (16 inch) not the current one if u get the AMD radeon pro graphics card u can get like 200fps consistently no problem and ive actually played some games on it
the newer one (also 16 inch) I havent tried valorant on it yet but im confident the m3 pro chip could run val just as smoothly with no problem

I have a mid-range acer laptop from 2018
I partially solved the heating issue by cleaning the fans but I still notice a slight increase in performance with the cooling pad on
if OP is just a casual player he's probably not gonna need it anyways

Does macos even have support for valorant? You probably have to run it under some layers of emulation which will reduce the performance substantially.

Not on Apple silicon chips (m1, 2, 3). Only on intel chips you can boot into windows. However, it's kind of stupid to buy intel macbook in 2024.

Lenovo IdeaPad 3i Slim. Doesn't cost all that much but it should cover all of your needs
