I personally don't want it to be allowed, makes movement more of a hardware thingie than skill.

exactly my pov, everyone should be on a fair playing field when it comes to gaming. When your hardware gives you unfair advantages, it should be kept in check. Hence why all monitors in major tournaments are 240hz (to my knowledge) and no one plays on a disadvantage.

Well everyone uses it then we are on a fair playing field.
Like how most people use Wooting for the Rapid Trigger utility.

It shouldn't be allowed, it should be banned

but so long as it isn't i'm gonna have to use it to be on an even playing field

Fps players complaining about snaptap when fighting game players have to deal with frogs abusing hitbox with guile

but hitbox has specific ruling to avoid literally what snaptap is. socd ruling requires that if two opposite directions are pushed you remain neutral. not saying hitboxes aren't better but related specifically to snaptap it avoids this issue.

Flash kick socd is pretty much the same thing as snap tap, two opposite directions (up/down) makes sure that up is always prioritized even when both are pressed down. That is quite literally what snap tap does, just in a more niche scenario.
However, given the nature of fighting games, hitbox is 100000 times more broken then snaptap

null binds were already a thing in CS, theyre banned in majors because you shouldnt be getting external help with an in-game mechanic

exactly. They've banned such things that give you a mechanical advantage over a thing thats supposed to be skill, hence why snaptap shouldn't be allowed imo

Wooting also gives an unfair advantage but because almost every pro uses Wooting nobody really cares. Probably will be a similar situation with this one.

Also remember that in regular lobbies nobody is playing a fair game at a hardware level to begin with. If my CPU and GPU are better than yours, I'll get more FPS. If my monitor is better than yours, I'll see you before you see me. If my mouse has a better sensor, I'll have better control over my aim. Not sure where the line should be drawn since hardware is becoming stronger and stronger.

There is a difference between upgraded hardware that boosts your performance by providing faster reaction times or a smoother experience and software within the hardware that alters your inputs.
